Oh my...

I just read on someone else's Lj regarding this silly "protest" by some unhappy with the election results that consists of not spending any money tomorrow on Inauguration Day. Why anyone who claims to care about "the little guy" would stiff the protelariat for some futile symbolic purpose is beyond me, but I lived in the D.C. area for 14 years through three inaugurations. Were there conservatives protesting on the streets during Clinton's inaugurations? Was Rush calling for all Republicans to boycott businesses to show the right's displeasure? No, of course not. Anyone who disagrees with President Bush had their chance to "protest" November 2. Beyond that, all you're being is a petulant crybaby. It's like Jets fans taking to the streets in protest because the Steelers beat them. Ditto for the whining about security costs (as though it would have cost less if Kerry was the one being inaugurated), the glitziness (but the Golden Globules went on without protest as will the Oscars and Grammys), and so on.

Then there's something else I'm sure many of you can relate to...the liberal fan(s) on your message board or list who just can't keep politics out of their posts. This drives me nuts. If I wanted political debate, I'd go find it elsewhere. Otherwise I'm there to talk about fandom stuff. I don't beat people over the head with my political, social, or religious beliefs. It's less stressful that way. Yet some of these fans either want political debates or they think everyone actually agrees with them. Not all liberal fans do this and sometimes there are fans on the right who insist on pushing their views on everyone. But geez, can't people keep politics out of things just for once?

No, Chapters-Indigo, but I think they're big enough of a company to anger the anti-capitalists ;) Oh wait, they're a business, so that angers them enough already ;)
