I live in Utah. Over the weekend, we got slammed with blizzard after blizzard and I had to drive through it TWICE - once on Saturday and once today (Monday). It was damn scary - cars and trucks were sliding all over the place. I later found out that there were over 100 wrecks just on Saturday. Even in my big Explorer, I was nervous (to illustrate: I had a panic attack on the freeway because my car kept sliding around. Luckily, I was able to pull off for a while until I was coherent enough to drive. That doesn't happen every day).
As I was making a usually-four hour trip in seven hours because of the snow, I remembered that the stupid Copenhagen global warming conference was being held today and I couldn't help but reflect upon the irony of the situation: a bunch of political muckity-mucks debating how to solve the global warming "problem" while a goodly portion of the country is slogging through ten feet of snow. They shouldn't have bothered - I could have used a little global warming this weekend.
I will bet you anything that they will never have a global warming conference in Utah in December. I don't know what the weather is like right now in Copenhagen, but it's probably nothing like what it's been doing here. Suffice it to say that I am less-than-sympathetic toward any polar bears or penguins right now.
Just some thoughts from the front lines of winter weather, for your own data and evidence (and it isn't even rigged).
