Over the weekend I had the misfortune to surf past one of the many LE shows on tv. Ho Hum. Saw the lineup, a bunch of has-beens and looozers, with a few newer bands who were out for the publicity...all having a global "Goregasm". It was a real heaver.
I really don't need these hypocrites, jetting around between their various mansions, each using multiple semi trucks and buses to haul their equipment and entourage, gobbling up more electricity in one hour than I will ever use in my lifetime...just to tell me how to live. I read an article that said it would take the equivalent of planting over 100k trees to replace some, not all, of the resources used by each show. And they want ME to emulate THEM? right.
What was bothersome was to see one of the more unconventional bands that I at one time really liked (before their last album) up there shouting out with the rest of them. (AFI) Geeze, I thought I raised them kids right. I don't pay for politics in my music, boys.
To sum it up, I hope all of the people who drove for miles, flew in, rode buses, etc. had a wonderful time watching the old farts get it on for Algore. Hope they feel good about themselves for awhile. Hope they think about just how big their collective "carbon footprints" were over the weekend. Mine, however was extremely tiny. Whoops, I forgot...I left the porch light on after I left for work, damn! I bet I killed a tree.
I am forever shamed.
