[identity profile] trevelyanl85a2.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] therightfangirl

Two videos I think ring home the meaning of this day. Although meant for the Canadian Forces, it still rings true to all our allies and to our fellow Americans who have served or are stll serving:

This one was a bit more emotional:

I had my grandfather serve in World War II, in Italy with a British Army postal unit. I don't know much about what he did over there.

I had two other uncles, on my mum's side, one that served in the Royal Malaysian Air Force, and another as an artillery major in the Malaysian Army, and I think he fought in the Malayan Emergency.

I had another uncle who served in the Indian Navy, on India's' first carrier, INS Vikrant (R11), and fought in the 1971 two-week war with Pakistan. Here's the carrier he served on, with Hawker Sea Hawks on the deck:

I do like to thank all the vets who have fought for our country, and thank those still serving, as well as those of our allies.

When they finally go home, I hope they receive this type of welcome:

That was really nice... and pretty much what I needed. Thank you for posting.
