Remember General Motors? Recall how the firm recieved a major pile of pork stimulous money purportedly to further the president's scheme to not only save jobs, but to promote environmentally-friendly energy choices. Saving jobs, and saving the planet: what a twofer! The future is "green" jobs!

They just axed their electric car program and let all the employees working on it go.

Lovely.

And they're phasing out Saturn! I am so pissed about that.

The deal fell through for selling off Saturn, so they're discontinuing it.

The deal fell through because GM would not continue building more Saturns for the dealerships to sell, and Penske could not find anyone else willing to do it.

Can you source that? Because that's not what I'm seeing (http://michiganmessenger.com/29901/gm-chrysler-make-plans-for-electric-car-production).

Meanwhile Ford didn't take taxpayer money and it's doing better than the companies that did.

The Volt was going to be a huge failure, kind of an Edsel-class failure.

And we can also look at the success of the "Cash for Clunkers" program, where many of the cars purchased were made by foreign companies.
