You know what irritates me about today's Fort Hood memorial ceremony (besides the fact that I must automatically dismiss anything our Commander in Chief says, any sentiment he expresses, as being fake--a show for the cameras and nothing else. I dare him to prove me wrong)? The fact that, despite what happened, despite September 11th, the Khobar Towers, the Embassy bombings, the U.S.S. Cole, the first WTC attack, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran...despite all of this, our government won't acknowledge that radical Islam wants to destory us.  They won't acknnowledge it today (God, Obama and First Lady MIchelle just arrived and people cheered) and, even if we DID have another September 11th or another shooting like this, they'll still not acknowledge it.

The more that I hear about this man and how the CIA, the FBI, and the Army all knew he was trouble but...likely because he was Muslim, they did nothing about it. They stated that an active-duty Army officer attempting to contact Al-Qaeda was "not alarming or dangerous." That's a load of bullsh--. Its beyond dangerous. Some theorize that perhaps they hoped he would make contact and that they could use him. If so, they need to bloody well come clean.

What I believe is that the victims of Fort Hood weren't just victims of a crazed gunman or a radical religion. They were the victims of political correctness. Had this man been anyone else, I believe the Army/FBI/CIA would have shut him down long ago to prevent him attempting to carry out whatever radical plans he might've had, even before he'd plotted them.  However, they were too concerned with--to them--the greater danger of offense of Muslims in the armed forces, Muslims in the civilian world, and Muslims in the world outside of the United States and so they decided to leave him alone, perhaps until they had something "concrete." I don't know what could be more concrete than his web postings, his openess about his views to his collegues and patients, his attendence at the same mosque as the September 11th hijackers, and finally, his direct attempts to contact Al-Qaeda.

Obama says in his speech today "this is a time of war." But neither he nor anyone else in goverment seems to acknowledge or even know who the enemy is.

radical Islam is the enemy of every one who ISNT part of radical Islam. they blow up the moderate Islamic folks on holiday just as happily.....
"not real Muslims" ya know?

we non Muslim bstrds are of course the preferred targets.

and its NOT a matter of concern that a member of teh armed forces tried to contact them? really? so.... uh.... hows that work again?
i think it would be of concern even if he wasnt Muslim.
even without the rest of it...

geesh.. and to think my entry into the army and my security clearance was upset that i had been in a profession that is (legal, thanks) involved with adult entertainment..
obviously i should have lied and claimed to be associated with a radical group bent on terroristic threats to the usa. instead of, you know... a go go dancer

What pisses me off about today's Fort Hood Ceremony is how it's just another example of how Obama refuses to do ANYTHING for ANYONE without a parade of cameras following him so everyone can see what he's doing. From what I've heard, the only reason he's there today is because they agreed to let him bring paparazzi.

He just keeps making Bush look more and more the better man. He and Laura snuck into the Fort Hood hospital, no cameras, no nothing, to visit the wounded and their families. The media didn't even know they had shown up till they were gone. But then again, THEY have class.

The biggest gripe that I have about the concern over being politically correct about being at war with a religious movement is this: Christianity grew out of its "Convert or we'll kill you" phase, yet Christians around the world are demonized as intolerant and backwards biggots. Islam hasn't grown beyond its "Convert or we'll kill you" phase, but it's a protected religious view. Hypocritical much?

Um, THANK YOU.

Not to mention the fact that it's PC to stereotype Christians in general. Yeah, that's completely acceptable, especially if you put it in a negative light, which REALLY gets the crowds going.

I haven't looked at the news for a few days - Did they release a motive from the gunman?

No motive. The investigators are reluctant to release a motive because of fear that their other special flower Muslim soldiers will suffer at the hands of those of us who dare to believe that extremists are our enemies. Not that I'm angry about that or anything...

And before anyone says anything: if a Muslim wants to serve as an American in our military, more power to him. We could use the manpower. I have nothing against them, because they are probably, on the whole, rational and decent people who can think for themselves. It's the extremists, a completely different and very distinct class of belief, that need to be weeded out. They're a security risk.

I completely agree.

But God forbid we "profile."

I'll argue that they do recognize the danger these loose-cannon jihadists pose. There aren't any Mohammedans on Obambi's secret service detail.
