Only Queen Amidala could say this. Well said, ma'am. Well, the Big Hollywood blog will give you some relief snark, but, otherwise, this is horrible.

Update (9/5): Apparently, the day after she said this, she, um, bought a $3 million castle estate. Well done, Padme, the Force was with you, there.

*facepalm*

Well, it's good to know that Ms. Hollywood is excited by seeing other people cut back. Sure Hollywood may be cutting back a little bit ... But what's cutting back to them? "Oh, I can't afford my fifth mansion."

I can't GET a job right now. If it weren't for my parents, I'd be living in a box right now ... But I should be excited about that, shouldn't I?

I knew Natalie Portman was of a liberal leaning, but I didn't know that she was flat-out stupid. This is what she got from Harvard? Really, Natalie? Really?

I second this.

God bless parents who are too nice to kick you out.

Thirded. Also for the fact that if it weren't for my mom offering to let me cover the phones when she has to go to her monthly all-staff meetings at work, I would have no income at all.

I also apparently get first crack at her sick days, but I haven't been able to take her up on those yet.

Ms. Portman is not just stupid, but as a conservative Jew and Israeli, she's apparently self-hating, as well. The Democrats are 100% prepared to sell Israel up a river. She's just embarrassing, clueless and privileged beyond repair.

"I’ve started to see people looking more toward their own passions and what really excites them.”

Well - when a struggling, out of work civil engineer (or whatever) comes up with a hit Joss-Whedon-esque web-series, you let me know.

Honestly - what excites people is probably what they were working at before things went south - be it real estate, a small business, a profession they spent 4+ years in college getting qualified to do. Maybe you could set up shop on a street corner and do paintings for a nickel, but I doubt it.

Good. Grief. XP

I will never watch another film she stars in. Ever.

How these people make me sick. Yeah, it's exciting for her and all the other millionaires. Tell that to people like me, who have been looking for a job for over a year and are losing their apartments or homes.

This makes me livid.

I am really sorry to hear that you're struggling like this, honey. I work from home writing for DemandStudios.com - they pay $15 per article of your choice, and I usually can knock 1 or 2 out per hour, and they pay weekly and are really nice people. If you like to write (on the subjects of your choice), you should apply - they are currently hiring. PM me if you have any questions, I hate to see people struggling on that level.

If Natalie Portman ever said one truly intelligent thing, I would probably die of shock. She's been spouting incredibly stupid crap for years and consistently gets praised as some sort of intellectual giant just because she's beautiful and went to Harvard.

The entertainment industry is really hurting right now. I'm sure everyone who's been fired or can't find a job in Hollywood right now is relieved to know that this is actually a very exciting time, and that doing jobs they hate means they're actually following their passions and finding out what really excites them.

SMH.

I'd cut back on movies if I watched them in the first place, especially hers. *head-desk*

How on earth is this an "exciting" time? But of course, it's easy to say such things when you're wealthy.

This is also why it's easy to be a socialist when you're a famous millionaire. If things go south, you can always just take up residence in your villa in Spain!
