Pastor Anderson, the crazy guy who got tazered by the Border Patrol, is back in the news (I don't know what became of his allegations about the border patrol) for making hateful speeches about President Obama. Oh, and he's also the same pastor that instructs his congregation to bring guns to church, and he's the pastor of that black guy who brought the assault rifle to President Obama's speech here in Phoenix. In my opinion, its all quite a volatile combination.

Now, I feel that this rightfully should threaten the tax-exempt status of his church as he is advocating against a specific political person. You can say "don't vote for those who would promote abortion because abortion is against God's teachings," but you can't say "don't vote for Nancy Pelosi." However, how is this much different from Rev Wright's speeches? They are both very, very wrong, but why the outrage over this man and not over Rev Wright who in fact delcated that September 11th was "[America's] chickens coming home to roost"?

It is this man's right to say what he wishes, but I don't think he should be doing it as an official representative of God. What say you folks?

I'll tell you what I think: I'd love to see this dude and Wright in a cage match!

It would be sweet! XD

I don't think anything any pastor says from the pulpit or in any capacity at all should jeopardize a church's tax-exempt status, personally. I know that's how the law reads, but the law is an ass. Churches should be tax-exempt, period. And enforcement seems to depend on whose ox is being gored. Equal protection and freedom of speech apparently go right out the window when conservative values are involved. *snorts*

I second this. Couldn't have said it better.

I agree with you. The line between personal free speech and using a pulpit to endorse specific political views is not so fine, and he's long crossed it.

I think people should stop feeding the trolls.
