Aug. 28th, 2009 09:44 amSo what did y'all think about Michael Vick's standing ovation yesterday?
I found it disgusting myself. I mean, sure, its one thing that he's "done his time" and is "starting over," but its entirely different to give a standing ovation to a felon convicted of torturing and killing dogs--in addition to all of the other terrible things he did as part of that dog-fighting ring---just because he's out of prison and is playing football again (something I disagree with as well--who puts someone like that back into the spotlight so they can get all of that attention again?). He hasn't done anything yet to earn such a reception.
I really don't know who is worse: Michael Vick or the fans who gave him the standing ovation.

Date: 2009-08-28 05:46 pm (UTC)UGH. I canNOT STAND that man. He should have been banned for life. Hells, Pete Rose was banned from baseball for less. *grumbles* As far as I'm concerned, he's as bad as a murderer, and the fact that he gets to play again is DISGUSTING to me. I don't think jail was enough for him. At all. :(

Date: 2009-08-28 05:58 pm (UTC)I don't care about his "fresh start" or "new life." The fact is that he stopped when he was caught. I'll bet my life that he'd still be doing it if he hadn't been caught.
Yeah, Michael Vick is lower than dirt.

Date: 2009-08-28 06:51 pm (UTC)Plus, the way the goons in PETA jumped on the case was pretty sickening too.
All in all, I pretty much hate everyone involved in this situation.

Date: 2009-08-28 08:29 pm (UTC)First of all, I'm not condoning what he did. It was horrible. However, I think he got punished a lot more than drug dealers in some places get punished. I would much rather have seen the cell space he took up, used to lock up a drug dealer who hurts our children. I understand we could do both but if given the option, I'd release the dog abuser and keep the drug dealer locked up.

It sickens me.

Date: 2009-08-29 02:05 am (UTC)Here's hoping Donovan McNabb and the rest of the Eagles can beat some sense into him and keep his ego from getting inflated again.

Date: 2009-08-29 01:30 pm (UTC)I live in the Philly area, but I'm a NY sports fan. And I've always hated the Eagles and their fans more than any other local sports team. I facepalmed mightily when I heard Philly had signed him.

Date: 2009-08-29 03:25 pm (UTC)My dad is a big Philly sports team fan, for basically everything, so I've grown up rooting for the Eagles. So maybe it's childhood bias.
