I posted a little bit ago about a black man in Phoenix bringing an assualt rifle to an Obama apperance. I thought the media would mention him but then gloss-over the details of his race and political views because he did not fit the stereotype they've constructed of gun-rights advocates or black persons.

Well, they actually did one better. They used this man as a visual prop in a report but they zoomed-in on the gun to conceal any indication that the man was not white from the footage. This footage was used to lead-in to a report on what MSNBC sees as "racist overtones" that are present at Obama apperances. Obviously it would have been impossible for them to use what is probably the most inflammatory gun-footage to date for this story had the man's race been visible in the video.

Has MSNBC become so much of a joke that they are now blatantly doctoring video footage ("who ya gonna belive? Me or your lyin' eyes?") to support they narrative they present? I would like to know if any of the other news stations have called them on it. I would like to know if ANYONE besides the conservative blogosphere has called them on it. This is akin to the AP accepting Photoshopped pictures for their reports (see the website relating to the "Crying Arab Woman" for cut & paste humor relating to this point).

I don't think they count as liberal, so you can see if they reported about MSNBC and the black guy. If they haven't, then you can contact them about it. Honestly, I don't know where they stand politically.

My jaw dropped at the woman saying "white people showing up with guns" in that video clip. It's just so blatantly ridiculous.

That's why I said in a different comment that I don't think it's a good idea to bring guns to these protests.

You have to understand how much these people DESPISE us. They will stop at nothing - even outright and blatant lies - to discredit us and paint us in the worst possible light, as they continue to worship Obama and his policies. Nothing is too low for them. NOTHING.

Well, it's as I am constantly saying, the major networks each have decided to sell to a chosen demographic.
The tradition of yellow journalism is long in this country.
I remember in my studies about the Spanish-American War how the furor was rallied up by the press. "Remember the Maine", anyone.

It is particularly interesting today when we have multiple out looks competing for veiwers how the various news sources will spin stories to sell to their customers.
Add to this the belief of those allied with the current administration that to control the language is to control the discussion, it becomes very apparent that they will take whatever they can latch onto.

The congressmen who arrived as part of the Rebublican Revolution, When the majority shifted under Clinton, forgot this quickly and fell to the press' pressures. If Conservatives gain power again they must remember this; The press hates you and everything that you stand for.

Which is why it is so important to keep a weather eye on any of the press. Kudos when they actually just tell the story, but they will take any mis-step and use it for their own ends.
