Alien Life

So, I am watching what sounds like it will lead to Eureka's alien invasion episode. Last week, I have just finished reading "War of the Worlds" I really enjoyed War of the Worlds, and I wished the movie versions actually occurred during that time period and stuck true to the book.

But anyway, I began to think about the War of the Worlds radio program that terrified people in the 1930s because they thought it was real. I wondered that alien invasion and alien life has appeared in our media for many decades. People have had generations to become accustomed to the idea that alien life actually exists. When/if humanity has its first contact, do you think there will be all the panic, terror and mass chaos that described the 1930s or do you think we would be more accepting albeit really freaked out?

If you watched last weeks episode, you would have seen that it was NOT an alien ship, but a ship that Henry had worked on years ago and sent up. So....No alien invasion.



And I think Obama would pull a District 9 on them.

People can't even accept people of their own race who have more or less melanin in their skin- not just Americans, either, of course. Heck, because of my many Asian friends, I now know that it is considered dirty blood to have Vietnamese blood in parts of China, and Chinese blood in parts of Vietnam- and to the rest of the world they look identical to each other!

It's going to be fear/anger/hatred by the masses, I assume, because emotion is easier than logic.

... it looks like District 9 will display this well, too. Can't wait to see it.

The outcome has a few possibilities.

If they come here before we develop long term space travel that means they are an advance species. If they are benevolent, they will work to calm the populace and attempt an alliance. If they aren't, I doubt we will be able to put up much of a fight.

I believe the options would be similar if we found a less advance species.
