I just heard that Newt predicted Obama would "ram through" healthcare after the August recess.

First off, can someone explain to me why this would happen when there is obviously so much resistance from the American people? I know, I know, our congresspeople are largely only concerned with themselves and a good number of them will vote with Obama because that's what they do, but is there any hope that we could see this thing defeated by a blue dog uprising?

Second, what if Newt is right? Will this spell the end for us? I have a hard time believing this recent awakening of conservatism in the U.S. will go gently into Obama's socialist night. If this thing passes, will there be a way to reverse the damage in the next few years?

Let's hope this does as a congressional Dem recently stated and turns Obama into a one-term president. People are just not going to sit for this...at least I hope not.

According to Dick Morris, the key to this monstrosity not passing is the Blue Dog Dems. He said that if they return to Washington to find their offices flooded with letters, they will vote with the people because to do otherwise would spell disaster - as in not getting reelected. But the letters need to be written and sent for this to happen.

I just emailed both my (blue) senators. Hey, every little bit counts, right?

Yes, but sitting down and writing a letter - preferably by hand - packs a bigger punch. It's more personal, and seeing a large volume of envelopes in the office can be quite convincing. So do both!

I would venture to say that this would happen because, as conspiracy theorist as it sounds, Obama certainly has an agenda. He doesn't care what we think we want, because Uncle O knows what's best! *ROLLS EYES* We, as a collective, have to rise up and DO something!

Gosh, this man irritates me!

I hope this protesting will convince more Dems to be against the healthcare debacle simply because they will be too afraid of being voted out of office and having their political careers killed off.

There's no point even trying to write both my senators. They're utter idiots, as are, apparently, the majority of Minnesota voters. They know they're in no danger of losing the next election to a Republican or independent.

There was a report stating that militia are on the rise and that we're moving back towards the period of increased activity that we had in the 90s, though there have been no indications thus far that there is any upswing in "violent tendancies." I don't remember where I read the report, though (I think it was linked off of Drudge).

I don't think, with the way things are going NOW at town halls, etc, that any of this anger is going to disappear if ObamaCare is passed. It will only get worse, and like the lady at the town hall said, they have "awakened a sleeping giant." We all know what happened the last time someone did something so foolish.

My father said that the main reason Congress went from a Democratic to Republican majority in 1994 was from something called Clinton health care, or something similar. That didn't go through well...

They are trying to shove the process down our throats faster than in the early 90s.. the anger against this amazes me.

HillaryCare (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clinton_health_care_plan_of_1993), in 1993! It was a mess!
