I was just watching (or rather, listening to, via SIRIUS) "America's Newsroom" on FOX News and they had a senator (I think it was) from the great state of Texas on discussing the riots in on the border bridges into the U.S. from Mexico. He said that the drug cartels are there in force and were using bazookas on the Mexican police. Texas is now on alert, he said, for the first time in modern history and they've developed their own "homeland security" plan.

He said, quite specifically, that Texas will not wait for a federal response should the violence spillover into its borders. He also said that if the federal government will not defend our borders, that Texas will.  Bill Hemmer was speechless, to say the least. For my part, I was yelling in my car "GO TEXAS!"

Don't mess with Texas. God bless 'em all. I really am feeling the urge to pack up my husband and move there.

I hope their actions will set a precedent along the border. We understand that the federal government isn't going to protect us so now we must protect ourselves. Further, it would send the message that the federal government doesn't own us and the States do have free will, so I would hope that concept would spread to other states in the Union as well.  Finally, its a vote of no-confidence in the federal government on a large scale. It is obviously damaging to the Obama Administration but it could also be used against us by our enemies.

Still, it sends a thrill up my leg (heh).

Yeah, it's been this way for a while. Basically, the Congressmen from Texas have had it up to their limit. I swell with pride every time. Border problems never seem to be a hot topic in politics (not as big as some others, at least) which I understand for the most part, since it's only affecting a portion of the United States- however, if the federal government decides to completely ignore it, they can do that. We don't mind taking care of it ourselves (since we'd do a better job about it than them anyway).

Glenn Beck has been discussing the border recently. There are a few thousand Americans that disappear or are killed every year along the border.

I'd just like to state for the record that if Texas declared independence, I'd totally move there. xD

COME ON DOWN, BABE! The MORE the MERRIER! ♥ I LOVE my state!

I do agree with you...we need to be FAR more aggressive about our borders...this 'undocumented immigrant' bull is driving me nuts.

*breaks out the guns* Hell, I'd join them if I lived down that way!
