Feb. 18th, 2009 11:06 amDid you all hear The One's mortgage bailout plan this morning?
He plans to spend $75 billion to subsidize defaulting home mortgages. He claims specifically to target families that are "under water," that is they owe more than the home is worth (which is my specific situation). He intends to use money taken from us via taxation to subsidize this "program." Does that mean that anyone on this program would be living in "public" housing?
He plans to STEAL (I cannot temphasize that enough) our money from us and give it to our neighbors so they can stay in their McMansion with their boat and BMW. I don't care what his justification for it is, and I don't care if it IS going to an Octomom-type who only wants to feed and shelter her kids; its theft. What is the quote about when a person steals, its a crime, but when a government steals, its OK?
So now we're paying our mortgage and literally (through Obama's bull-sh!t tax system) our neighbors, too. Its official, now, what we'd long expected would happen. I don't want to pay my mortgage any more. I could use that money to buy a boat. God knows that's what everyone else is doing. There is zero incentive--beyond a good credit score, but that point is rapidly becoming moot--to pay one's mortgage (or any bills, it seems, as defaulting lending institutions will get bailed-out when they can't collect on their debts) anymore.
This post:
Shows just how wasteful and stupid and socialistic this is. Obama's enacting a revolution by cramming all of this horse-puckey through and so far he's winning without firing a single "shot."

"$75 billion divided by 9 million = $8,333. That's it. That's the total amount per home the suggested amount will cover. That won't even cover 6 months of low-rate mortgage payments in most areas, and I don't know of anyone who owes that little on their house. This, of course, assumes absolutely no overhead or other expenses, which is wishful thinking with the federal government. What about all the moochers? How are they to be weeded out? Transparency? Please. This "bailout" is akin to the $13/wk "tax cut" everyone making under $75,000/yr just got (which is actually less than $8/wk BEFORE taxes, if one divides $400/yr by 52 wks/yr). Is all of this bad joke?"

Date: 2009-02-18 07:23 pm (UTC)I am SO TIRED of the government STEALING our money to pay for people who aren't responsible enough to figure out whether they can afford what they're buying or not. It would be MUCH cheaper just to let our neighbors steal the stuff from us anyway.
Question for discussion: where do you think this is going to come to a head? Is it going to be the dollar collapsing, citizens getting fed up and revolting, or what? What if everyone just stopped sending tax money to the government? If a ton of people did it, there isn't a whole lot they could do about it.
Today, working on my taxes, I was halfway tempted to send copies of all my receipts and crap and telling THEM to figure it out.
