So, I was reading a pretty excellent AU InuYasha fanfic centered around my favorite pairing. Exciting~! Right? Well, until it comes out that the main villain is now an army general who thinks some very anti-liberal, anti-Islam things and is after the main character of the fic because he's a reporter who's got a history of 'liberal pacifism'... And then the author throws in that he thinks Buddhism isn't quite as bad as being a Muslim, but who takes Buddhism seriously anyways?

The main character's love interest works for this man and will undoubtedly learn about his evil ways and go the right way.

Please to keeping your crazy ass politics out of my fandom. Thank you. I thought I was safe since the series originally takes place in 16th century Japan, but clearly I was wrong.

Unfortunately, I don't think ANY fandom is safe from crazy politics. I've seen stuff like that pretty much everywhere (unless you're in tiny, tiny fandoms). *facepalm*

My primary fandom was written by a woman who's...erm, apparently in the early-zealous-convert phase of Wicca. Politics, we has them.

Wow! Who would have suspected that they could throw politics into InuYasha. Heck, the one reason I love anime is because I don't have to deal with stupid overpaid Hollywood actors.

This seriously cements my opinion that most fanfic writers need to get laid more often. LOL!

LOL....let's see. Naraku was a thief, who basically sold his soul for demonic powers, and uses other people so as not to soil his hands.

Obama wants to spread the wealth, not allow infants born from botched abortions to live, and throws even his close friends and advisors under the bus whenever it suits him.

Hmm...I'm seeing more similarities between Obama and Naraku than any conservative I can think of!

I remember reading a Supernatural gen fic whose main point seemed to be that anyone that supplied guns to anyone was evil and racist.

I was like, how can you like that show and hate guns? The show is full of guns! But apparently people do.

Ugh.

I read a Roswell fan fic where the evil president's name was Forrest and he was a power-hungry man intent on ruling the world. Of course the author didn't ever get to explaining how he'd stay in power after his two terms were up.

'Forrest'? How super clever!

Although I do remember a leftist protester once telling me that Bush wasn't going to leave office because he was planning on staging a coup, though. Wonder how that worked out for him...

Super-clever, huh, I was thinking super-moronic...oh and to boot the man wanted to blackmail one of the characters into sex. Sheesh, maybe he meant Clinton and I just misunderstood?

Bush had his faults and God knows he and I part company on several issues but I believe he's essentially a good man and not this power-hungry monster that the left sees him as.

I'm surprised SW fan fiction isn't more explicitly political but I think it's mostly because everybody would rather write about ships and angst instead.
