It's just been announced that Judd Gregg is withdrawing his name for Commerce Sec. Nothing tax related, more a case of irreconcilable differences. The two main areas are the stimulus bill and the census.

Irreconcilable differences! LOL! I read about this. Kudos for the guy saying "enough is enough." As a commenter over at Michelle Malkin said, he probably doesn't want to go down with the Titanic Administration.

He's also the Republican Senator that many were saying was put up for the post in order to have a Democrat appointed as his replacement, giving the Dems their 60 seat filibuster proof Congress.

I suspect the differences were that he couldn't get a guarantee that his seat would not be filled by a Dem if he moved into the cabinet.

I imagine he felt obligated to at least give it a shot. It didn't work out, so he did what he had to do.
