I just thought you might want to look at some of the things Germany cranked out under the grip of Socialism and Adolf Hitler. This is an exhibit from the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. Look at the gallery, see if anything gets a reaction. One poster reads, "Our Last Hope–Hitler." Now I'm not trying to start a fight. I'm not comparing any one person to another directly, I am simply saying if we forget the past, we are doomed to repeat it. We have to keep an eye on the Socialist-leaning people right now because honestly, I fear for us sometimes.

Oh, wow... this quote from the site made me shudder a bit:
"How many look up to him [Hitler] with touching faith as their helper, their savior, their deliverer from unbearable distress."

I was way too late for WWII. It always seemed like another world to me. I simply could never fathom how so many ordinary people could have fallen for Hitler's view of the world and end up supporting him. (Or at the very least, just ignore/deny the horrors that were going on.) But these past 8 years has changed that.

I can't say I really understand it any better. But seeing things for yourself does have a great impact.

The object may be different this time around, but the brainwashing from the outside and self-delusion from the inside is exactly the same.

It truly is frightening. Especially when no matter what you say or do, no matter how much rock solid evidence you present to people, they *will not* see what is right in front of them.

This is why I refuse to argue politics with people. No one is going to change their view just because I make a good arguement, so I won't waste my time/breath/keystrokes on it. I fear for our future...

I guess I'm just hopeful. And hard-headed as can be. People do change their minds about various things sometimes. I can't just... not even try.

(I just hope I live long enough to see it personally, at least ONCE in my life!)

I will discuss politics with people, and even engage in friendly debate, but I won't argue. It's not worth losing friendship with and respect for people I otherwise like.

Oh, I try to keep it on the level of discussion too. I guess I didn't make that clear.

And then there's the unsettling "Cult of the Führer" that sounds so much like the "Cult of Personality." The similarities between the rise of Hitler and the rise of Obama are so strong and in your face, yet the MSM prefers to cast the right as Nazis rather than the socialist left, overlooking the fact that Nazis were National Socialists!

I pray that this country will learn from history before it is too late.

It isn't so much forgetting the past as it is believing It Could Never Happen Here.

One thing I've figured out in my years of existence is that you can never take the world around you for granted. There's nothing that guarantees what we have today will be around tomorrow or next year or in a decade.

You are being way too subtle. I would make the direct comparison, but subtlety has never really been my strong point. ;)

For me the most disturbing were the "On April 10, YES!" one as well as the "YES, Leader, we're with you!" one. Those are so reminiscent of the "Yes We Can" slogans.

That posting is entirely irrational! Well done, sorta...
