Obama just announced his economic team and I'm listening to his speech. Ho man, he's bringing out the big guns. He polished that silver-tongue of his last night, but even that isn't keeping his frustration from his words. Whatever happened to cool and collected, the "chill the f**k out, I got this," meme? He's blaming partisanship, he's citing the fact that "he won," he's using the single-mom with 4 kids, no job, and a leaky roof...the whole shebang, trying to get the Senate to pass his crap sandwich. He's blaming everything and everyone but that aformentioned crap-sandwich as the reason the "stimulus" hasn't been passed.

Of course, according to Harry Reid, "he's got the votes," just not the Republicans. Mmkay, so if this is sooooo important and is so sure to succeed, then why not pass it and smear it in the GOP's face later? Of course we know why: because it will fail and in the long-run will make things worse, and when Obama and the Ds go down in flames, they want to drag the GOP down with it.

Or am I missing something?

We're only in week 3 and he's already grasping at straws. I'm sure our enemies abroad are eating this up.

If it were a sure thing, they would bring it to a vote. But they don't have the 51 votes they need to pass the aforementioned crap sandwich. Even the Dems are starting to back away from it, leaving President HopeAndChange holding the bag.

There are 56 Dems in the Senate currently.

If the bill requires a simple majority they don't need the Reps.
If it requires a 2/3 majority they only need 4 other votes.

It only requires a majority vote. 2/3 is to only needed to override a Presidential veto, like The One would do that!

Is it wrong that when Fox broke in to give Obama's speech last night I begged my dad to turn the channel?

We record Planet Earth and watched that instead-I prefer Great White Sharks to lying politicians. :D If they hadn't already have watched it I would have suggested "Lie to Me"--seems appropriate given the state of our union these days.

You think maybe Obama was starting to believe the media and now thinks he can turn water into wine and republicans into democrats?

I loved his quote about the this racking up debt. He mentioned that the debt we were in was already there when he got to Washington.

First, some of it was racked up when he was senator. Second, how is that change? "We were all fine with charging things before, let's just go on doing it." I mean, democrats have been throwing the debt in Bush's face for years (which he deserved) and now they don't care? That's the change, now Dems don't care.

I was listening to Sean Hannity yesterday, and he remarked that it seems like PBO is still campaigning... trying to convince everybody that he's the one for the job, that the stimulus will fix everything...

(Oh, on that note, a brief interlude: I heard a clip from Nancy Pelosi, who said, and I quote, "500 million" American jobs will be lost if the stimulus doesn't pass. Again, "500 million." Please note that according to the CIA World Factbook, there are only just over 300 million people living in the USA.)

But meanwhile, all of the senators and Congressmen are realizing exactly what this stimulus bill is: a wishlist for all the pork spending the Dems have been wanting to do for 40 years.

At this point, I wish I could just walk over to the US Capitol with a bullhorn and start shouting "Just cut our taxes! We'll spend the money! Cut out the middleman!"

In last night's "speech," he was shrill and screechy. It was like listening to Rev. Wright. He can't believe his magickal powerz aren't fooling the public.
