Did anyone watch the new show "Brothers & Sisters" last night? I was very excited that a main character in a family drama is a Republican until I watched it. Of all the people in the world who could have pulled this off brilliantly, they choose Calista-can't-act-her-way-out-of-a-paper-bag-Flockhart.

And, I was really disappointed in the show itself. The pacing was slow and none of the characters garnered any sympathy from me. I could have cared less about any of them.

I'm probably going to give this show another shot, because I liked Calista Flockhart when she was interacting with Sally Field. I just hope we don't get a huge "she's a conservative but she rethinks her life and becomes a liberal" thing.

I haven't watched this show but the trouble with Hollyweird is that it cannot accept that decent, intelligent, sane, likeable people can be conservatives or have conservative views. Ergo you have the "pro-life" half of Cagney & Lacey become enlightened about the "right to choose" and change her mind. Or you have a "Republican" candidate on The Left West Wing whose views are identical to the flamin' lib running against him. Talk about a RINO! Being a conservative is treated as a fault, something that has to be overcome, or else you're just Oilcan Harry twisting your mustache or a fool who has to be constantly shown up by the wiser and more liberal characters who get all of the good lines.*

*Note, they tried this with Archie Bunker but it didn't quite work...he was easily the most popular character on "All In The Family."
