Student's Forced to Practice Islam in the Classroom.

In our brave new schools, Johnny can't say the pledge, but he can recite the Quran. Yup, the same court that found the phrase "under God" unconstitutional now endorses Islamic catechism in public school.

I found this on [livejournal.com profile] republicans, in short: student's are allowed forced to practice Islam in the classroom, but are not allowed to practice Christianity in the classroom.

*seethes* That's absolutely ridiculous. Really, the complete unfairness (is that a word?) of it kills me.

The most likely reason the ruling has been ignored is probably that it was upheld by the 9th Circuit Court. They are dangerous, but they're also buffoons. The parents need to take it to the SCOTUS.

If I were in the CA school system, and the tried to force to do that, I hope I'd say "bite me, Islamo-Nazis". XP
I have no problem Moslems practicing their faith, openly even. But when anyone forces their beliefs on another person, that's called subjugation.

Physical wars very often are the product of ideology wars. Armies require forces to fight with, so if your own people aren't allied with you, then what?

It isnt right to try to force any faith on people. I mean, if they want to study what diffrent religions believe, thats ok, but this just seems extreme, esp when it is only one religion that gets this amount of "air time" so to speak...

Collective religious prayer doesn't belong in public schools- it belongs in the private religious school of your choice. Plus, you can learn about Islam and how Muslims practice from a textbook. You don't have to mimic their praying routines. That may actually go against some of the religious beliefs of the students in class. I'm Jewish and if I was back in public elementary school, I'd feel funny mimicking someone's religion instead of doing the textbook learning about different religions.
