Can someone point me to a good article or website on the possible noms and their pros and cons? Everything I run into is either, "There is no short list," "Everyone is on the short list," or "GAH! NOT GONZALEZ! ANYONE BUT GONZALEZ!!! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE! THE SKY IS FALLING! WE'RE STILL PISSY THAT KERRY LOST! GAH!!"
Thank you, my dears.
Thank you, my dears.

Date: 2005-07-08 02:26 pm (UTC)I pointed out on a West Wing board that with the possibility of Rehnquist retiring, worlds were starting to collide (there was an episode where one Justice dies, and the President asked the Chief to retire and he nominated a liberal and a conservative so both noms would go through, plus Bush's bike wreck paralleled the pilot episode). All of a sudden everyone put on their liberal hats and started kicking Gonzalez. So I did a Yahoo search on him (because honestly, I don't know much about the man) and my computer nearly became blue from all the liberal hate.
God forbid someone is able to do their job to the best of their abilities without pissing everyone off.

Of course, he could also be using Gonzalez as a plant. You know someone who is totally unacceptable to both sides so when he does bring up another nominee they'll be accepted without a lot of fuss.
