therightfangirlThis interview is a few years old. But I think it's worth posting here because the host embodies every stereotype we righties associate with smug, liberal douchebags. Seriously, he's so over the top he comes across like a right wing Colbert!
A recent post here got me thinking of a brave, amazing, and all around kick-ass lady named Ayaan Hirsi Ali. If you don't know who she is, this interview is a really good introduction to her and why she is one of the coolest people who will ever exist ever.

These are my favorite parts of the video:
-At 4:00, Ali says "Unlike most Muslims, Christians do not wish to see their holy book replace the constitutions in every nation in the world". And Lewis replies by ranting that, "In the USA, evangelical Christians are imposing the Bible everyday! Homophobia is rampant and abortion doctors are shot left and right!!"
Avi Lewis is Canadian. I'm guessing that he has never been here and that he learned everything he knows about the USA from watching Michael Moore movies".
-6:30 is the funniest part! In it, the white, wealthy, and privileged Canadian host condescendingly lectures the Black woman with a freakin' MUSLIM NAME about how hard it is for minorities (mainly Arabs, Africans, and Muslims) to get on airplanes.
Newsflash, dude! If it really is that hard for brown people with Arab names to get through an airport, SHE WOULD ALREADY KNOW ABOUT IT!!!!!!
-At 8:00 you see Ali roll her eyes as Lewis tells her that only wealthy, connected people can EVER succeed in the USA and that her faith in our country (ie the country that took her in after most of Europe threw her to the wolves) is childish and/or a result of brainwashing. We must all give this woman props for not standing up, beating him with her chair, and calling him out on his condescending bigotry toward her. She has the restraint of a saint.
-Ali's verbal body slam comes at 8:30. She says, "I don't find myself in the same luxury as you. You grew up in freedom, so you can spit on freedom. Because you do not know what it's like not to have it."
I did some checking on this dude after viewing this interview and he hits just about every dopey liberal stereotype in the book:
-Rich, White kid claiming to speak for the "oppressed minorities" (and then accusing all minorities who disagree with him of being brain-washed by The Man)? CHECK
-Likely suffers from White Guilt because his rich, well-connected parents paid his way into good schools and sweet jobs? CHECK
-Fancies himself more informed about the subject of radical Islam than a person who actually lived in it (and continues to be threatened by it)? CHECK
-Foreigner who blindly believes every negative stereotype he hears about America and Americans? CHECK
-Self-hating Jew (he currently works for Al Jazeera)? CHECK
-He thinks that the USA is an immediate danger to world peace. But he believes that the fear of radical Islam is overblown and racist? CHECK

I posted this interview here because it's genuinely fun to watch Ali verbally kick his ass without ever raising her voice. I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I did.

I would love to say that it's unbelievable how arrogant and condescending he was, but sadly it wasn't. It's just so lovely that someone so uninformed about Islam and America can have a tv show and be paid to lecture a woman who has faced hardships his privilege, smug ass can't imagine.

He grew up in a Leftie bubble and was supported by his wealthy, well-connected parents and friends from the moment he was born. It's likely that he doesn't have any close friends who don't share his world view. And he has never had to struggle for anything in his entire life. Yet he has the GALL to tell this woman (of all people) that he understands religious bigotry and racism more than she does. FUCK HIM!!
