ext_1270509: (haters to the left)
[identity profile] agentverona.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] therightfangirl
SO. On in my tumblr feed today, I was quickly informed that:

"to any girl who likes Romney:

you do realize that this is the man who wants to ban the production of femine hygiene products including tampons and pads
he thinks “we should let our cycle flow freely like God planned, not stop it with foreign objects”

so maybe you should think about that before voting"

I quickly replied with an edited version of my rant about how the left treats women and how stupid and compliant they like to keep us, and when I was done I looked at the other reblogs, and there were quite a few people saying the exact same thing. I had another weird moment, like I did in my last post about X-Box live, where I suddenly didn't feel so alone, in a world on the internet surrounded by PSYCHOS. Anyone else seeing a strange amount of the hidden right suddenly showing their faces and voices around the web?

Here's a link to the stupid, because I'm not crazy enough to make this shit up.

((PS: In a small fandom moment (since this IS The Right Fangirl afterall), did anyone else watch RuPauls Drag Race All Stars tonight, and if you did, was I the only one who let out an anguished SCREAM at sudden pairs and poor Pandora being stuck with Mimi? Cause it was anguished, my scream.))

Huh. Maybe Romney did win the debate last night, if they're making stuff like this up now? 'Cause this is just dumb in all kindsa ways.

I just really like this post. The tone and balance. I'm not watching RuPauls Drag Race (or much tv for that matter), but it still made me smile (and I admit -- curious).

And this morning I was reflecting on how often I've seen people here exhibit tolerance for friends they valued even if they did not share the same points of view on all matters. It's really heartening.

I think my favorite comment to this post was: "If we elect Romney, i’m moving to Canada. They have really nice health care."
Yeah, you have fun with that.

Yes. Of course. Mitt Romney is going to steal your tampons, because he is so obsessed with you. Yes. You. His sole purpose in life is to oppress you. Steal your diva cups. Rip up your zine collection. Snap your coat hangers!

Um, newsflash: Mitt couldn't care less about you. Mitt is successful. Mitt has a beautiful wife. Mitt is very busy. He has much better things to do than "oppress" you.

Gawsh. Feminists really do suffer from delusions of grandeur.

(And I really like making fun of them, lol.)

The basis of this idea was a satire and it took off from there.

http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2012/10/07/romney-rumor-gop-wants-to-ban-tampons/

A link in the comments points out that the Democrats passed taxing tampons more however, as part of the medical devices tax under Obamacare though, among other things that count as medical devices (like breast pumps). Guess no one ever points this out either.

As with anything libs throw out there, ask them to back up their rumors with proof from real sources (not biased media) and they sputter and fail.

Oh my gosh! You are not serious! A tampon tax?! If true, in a campaign that's been arguing the hardships of $9/mo contraception, WHY hasn't the Obama Tampon Tax been brought up before?!

I know, right! In a campaign where the phrase "War on Women" is a thing, why is no one covering this!? I know why left wing outlets aren't; but you'd think folks like Sean Hannity would jump on this story like a hungry dog on a steak!

Yeah, I had something of the kind on my Facebook page this morning. A comment about being willing to pay for other women's right to control their bodies. The exchange after that:

"I'm not :) I believe that I should not be forced to pay for the consequences of other people's decisions. The women of this country are not grown-up or self-responsible enough to use that responsibly. They have already shown me that. Edit - you're welcome to disagree with me. That's where I stand. When the women of this country show some personal responsibility and willingness to accept the consequences of their life choices, then I'll help. Till then, tough."

"I guess good that no one is asking you then?"

"I have the same number of votes you do."

Oh lord, and here I thought my high school classmates were saying stupid crap on Facebook... +shakes head+ I've had to block them out so I don't reach through the wires and punch them...

Talking sense to them is so pointless I may as well talk to an actual wall and not a computer generated one - the wall in my room will listen better.

The "banning tampons" thing was really hot about two weeks ago. And it's based on the aforementioned satirical news piece, meaning it's so untrue, I just...gah. It certainly proves how absolutely dumb some people can be and why I'm glad 3/4* of Tumblr can't vote. Sadly, that's the future voting force there...

(*Based around the gathered information that most of Tumblr is under 18 and/or lives in a different country.)

I wish I could say I was surprised by this, but considering that so much of Tumblr honest to God thinks that Romney is going to bring about World War III the nanosecond he's sworn into office, I'm really not.

I guess that all satire sites need to be slapped with the domain name of The Onion before people know it's a lie...and even THAT'S not a guarantee.

Uhhhh........ What......?

. Something tells me this girl wasn't being jokey/snarky when she made that post, even though the info was debunked as satire. Eep. Please tell me she's not even legal voting age.

Love how you got some people speaking up saying essentially the same things. Little moments like that making you realize that you're not alone... there actually ARE some sane people online. Yet another reason why I love this comm. It's like a sea of calm in the midst of my rocky, sometimes scary moonbat flist :D

These are the same idiots that I read from twitchy where they think a Romney Presidency will ban the Dollar Menu from McD's.

I don't even know what to say to shit like this anymore..the left is bat shit crazy.

Even though it leans liberal, Snopes.com is your friend. I take great pleasure in linking to Snopes whenever I come across this kind of idiocy.

The level of ignorance I see on sites like Tumblr astounds me. Just when I think social networking can't sink to a lower level... *shakes head*

I'd tell this chick to learn how to use Google, Snopes, or - heaven forbid - her brain to refute claims like this. Good grief.

Whaaaaaaat?!?!?

People really believe this? People really, truly believe this?

Looks like somebody doesn't know that "The Onion" is fictional :P

How profoundly ignorant and irrational do you need to be, to believe something like this??

I've only been at [livejournal.com profile] therightfangirl for a couple of weeks, and I still feel surprised every time I read the comments here. I haven't seen any support for conservatives anywhere else on LJ, so sometimes when I start reading a post here my first reaction is, "Are they being sarcastic or trolling?"

And then I remember that [livejournal.com profile] therightfangirl really exists, and I grin like a madwoman. :D

PS - I see the same Romney banning tampons comments on Twitter. Anyone who believes such a thing is, well, a twit.

Sadly, many liberals (and 90% of tumblr users) are kool-aid drinkers who see conservatives as cartoonish Captain Planet villains. Few of them actually know a conservative personally. So if you tell them ANY insane "fact" about an evil thing a Republican did, they will believe it without question. If you made a tumblr post saying that "Mitt Romney keeps Hitler's corpse frozen in his basement and hugs it every night",it would get a million reblogs.

But still....how STUPID does someone have to be to believe that tampon thing!?!?!
Really. Even if you believe that Romney is a religious wackjob; since when are Mormons against feminine hygiene products? And even if he was against them, there's no way he can get them banned just by snapping his fingers. Just....UGH!!
