Obama Phone —

I remember mentioning the free cellphone program some time ago and it was upsetting knowing that people get these things. Now Obama has taken an already stupid and wasteful program and put his name all over it, as if he personally created it and is doling it out. The FCC tax on landline telephone service is $6.98 per line. I don't know what the taxes are for cellphones but I'm certain its a lot. This tax, among other things, subsidizes the Lifeline service for landlines and cellphones. At my telecomm, even a basic line--no features or long distance plan--costs about $24.00/month after taxes when the base charge is about $13/month. As a result, people cut their landlines because its too expensive to have the landline and cellphone. This obviously hurts the bottom line of the telecomms and means fewer jobs, etc. All of this so that the politicians can have a bit of candy to hand out to people like the woman in the video in order to buy their votes.

I can at least see the function of having the Lifeline for landline service (ironically, what the program does is waive those prohibitive phone taxes and provide a small discount on the service but it is not 100% free), but its been taken too far with the cellphones which are 100% free and apparently many people are abusing the program (cue Captain Renault), having multiple phones spread across multiple carriers.

Anyway that's all been said. I'm just .... I don't think shocked is the right word. Depressed maybe? That it has come to this point where the President is basically his own brand, like Coca-Cola. He has his personal logo, he has a devoted fan-following that goes far beyond mere political support, and his name is being slapped on everything. It really undermines everything the office is supposed to stand for.

I don't have enough facepalm in the world for this. It's just disgusting.

I did find this, though:

This guy is awesome. Really tells it like it is. I'm glad some of us in this country see right through this insanity.

Hopefully all of us will vote in November and get this ass-clown out of the White House.

Every time that woman says "Obama Phone," I can't help but think of something like this -

These people have become a parody of themselves. It would be hilarious if the ramifications weren't so troubling.

I just need an address to put on this box and I'll have your internet in the mail for you. :)

(It's either laugh or scream, and I want my vocal chords functional for Sunday.)

Apparently I wasn't the only person who thought of Dumb Donald (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GVwSEpkPIc) when I first heard this clip. (This is the original (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLKpdA_VnpI) if you're not to familiar with the character.

People are insane. That's all I can think of. The world has officially gone mad, and those of us who are not fully integrated into the insanity are being dragged along for the ride.

I never watched that, but seeing that guy with the hat pulled over his face was hilarious! Thanks for sharing. It's funny because everyone knew a guy like that in school (or sometimes girl). -The overzealous attention seeker who told crazy stories.

I'm waiting for Columbia University to be renamed "Obama U"....or maybe Harvard. Or both. Just think, if he's re-elected, he'll have four more years to rename everything.

If this man's re-elected, there isn't enough alcohol in the world to get me to 2016...

Celebrity-in-Chief, not Commander-in-Chief. This is why I can't wait until November to vote him out!

Video is ded. Apparently, it got removed by the user, so it said. Find a new one, please?

But, anyway, I love how she screams 'Romney SUX! BAD!" If that's the video I think it is.

I don't know if this is the same video, but seems to be the same gist anyway.

Oh my gosh, I'm laughing so hard right now - on the page for one of the "Obama Phone Song" spoof videos, there's an AdChoices political ad to wish the Obamas a happy wedding anniversary. I think their algorithm needs some adjustment!
