It's an hour long, but well worth the time.
Uncommon Knowledge: President George W. Bush On His Presidency and Life After the White House
I will never cease to regret that I was so unappreciative of him while he was in office for all those years. Shame on me.
I don't agree with him on some things. From this, it seems he's still under the silly, misguided idea that problems with terrorism and other national security issues are caused by mainly poverty. Regarding the so-called Arab Spring, it was extremely disturbing to see him still completely clueless about Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood. He "hasn't studied the platforms" of the candidates in Egypt (and I assume other countries in the midst of this upheaval). That's your first mistake. The purposes of the Muslim Brotherhood are clear and available for anyone to see. Assuming they choose to see, that is.
Don't even get me started on his comments on Gaza. There is no "reasonable" Hamas vs. "militant" Hamas! One of the main purposes of Hamas (if not the main purpose) is to destroy Israel. It's not a secret. It's right there in their own CHARTER!
His problem seems to be a bit too much decency. He just doesn't seem to grasp that not every individual and not every culture wants the same sort of free, open, peaceful society that we envision when we think of "freedom" and "democracy". In other words, we are NOT all the same.
All of that said, he's also a decent, humble man who did and is still doing a lot of good in the world. You don't know about it because like all decent, humble people, he doesn't like announcing everything he does to the world. It's clear that he's comfortable with his own life, with the decisions he's made, and that he continues to look forward and enjoy his "after-life" as he put it.
You know what was most remarkable? Hearing him openly, proudly, and every time the opportunity would come up, IMMEDIATELY state how great America is! Think about that. This sounds odd to my ears now. Why? Because the disgraceful, traitorous man we have sitting in that office right now would never, could never say such a thing and truly mean it! The fact that this now sounds odd to me now is a testament to how far we have fallen with the election of the man who holds the office today.

Shame on the media and every single liberal out there who lied about President George Bush, called him the most vulgar, vile names imaginable, dragged his name through the mud, compared him to Hitler and publicly wished death upon him for 8 years straight. Some do it to this very day.
Explain to me why you did this. Back up your accusations with evidence.
Either that, or apologize for it all. Anybody?
Yeah, that's what I thought. You are cowards, one and all.
Also, Texas seems to be a world unto its own. I don't know of any other state where, regardless of what particular city they're from, you hear people say they are from that state, not from whatever city they happen to live. Does that make any sense? You never hear Chicagoans say, "I'm from Illinois." Chicago is a big city in the middle of CORNFIELDS! But everyone I have ever heard who is from anywhere in Texas - and huge as it is - says they are from Texas, not a particular city. The state is huge. I'm sure there are different cultures in all its different cities. But yet there's a unity about it that fascinates me. I can't comprehend this.
I want to go there someday.

Date: 2012-07-24 01:12 pm (UTC)I agree with you. While I disagreed about many of Bush's decisions while he was in office, I couldn't stand to watch the media excoriate him as they did...and they only did that because he was a Republican. Calling them cowards isn't a strong enough word to describe how awful the media is!
Thank you for posting this. I'm enjoying listening to the interview!
