Let me preface this by saying that I'm not the biggest fan of Romney and I am a life-long dog lover. But this is an example of another MSM hits finally making it on social media, and I think it's hilarious how they have selective memories when it comes to Obama.

Okay - first of all, I first heard about this a few months ago *at least*. It's only making the rounds on LJ now?? I guess someone's really feeling threatened by the possibility that Romney might actually defeat Obama....

I felt compelled to comment and inform her that Obama used to *eat* dog. Isn't that abuse of sorts? I'm sure they'd rebut with "Oh but that was years ago and he never said he liked it! Plus he has Bo now!" Well, this Romney thing was years ago, too. Again I'm not the biggest Romney fan and I don't condone what he did, but honestly, the one-sided drama queens just make me shake my head. I'd comment to her but she's a decent person otherwise (has never posted about politics before with the exception of her opposition to SOPA/PIPA/ACTA) and I don't feel like getting into an argument.

I like animals and don't think they should be abused, but good lord, I wish people would get over their hysteria for their stupid, poop-eating dogs. I mean, you could have an athlete get drunk and high, then go out and beat a women and anal-rape her with a friggin' broom handle, and you wouldn't get a fraction of the outrage you saw from people over the Michael Vick dog-fighting debacle.

That being said, there was probably once upon a time when it was perfectly reasonable to put your dog on the roof when you have five kids crammed into a vehicle. Now you have a world full of freetard yuppies who pay the big bucks to send their dog-children to doggie daycare everyday, and they probably puked a little bit in their mouths after hearing about the Stinky Seamus Scandal. :-P

Haha, good point. I've watched the show "Dogs in the City" and it's unbelievable how some of these dogs are treated like children, pampered to the extent that they don't even get to be dogs. And they wonder why their dogs don't act ... well, the way they're expected to act. "Oh, my poor little baby... I'm so afraid to put her down on the sidewalk and make her walk because it might damage her delicate, petite frame!" *eyeroll* I have a coonhound/beagle puppy myself. She acts like a dog and likes being a dog. She'd probably laugh at the yuppies if she could, lol...

What annoys me is every time I point out about the eating of Dog by the President, I get the defense that "animals raised for food are treated better than what happened to the Romney's animal" or some variation thereof. The mind boggles at the sliding scale of morality by the supporters of the incumbent.

Yeah, I've heard that one before, too. How exactly do they know that? Guess like most things, they just want to fantasize that it's true, or something. I bet the people from PETA would disagree with them, too. I remember some years back they were protesting KFC because they supposedly didn't treat the chickens well.

ETA: So I did leave a comment about Obama eating dog and I did get a reply just like that ("there's a difference between eating an animal and being cruel to it"). The lengths these people will go to defend the King are just truly amazing.

LOL. Dogs used for food in Asia are hung upside down, STILL ALIVE, with small cuts in their paws because fear and suffering makes the meat more tender. I kid you not. It is TOTALLY disgusting. For the record, I am old-school Animal Rights. Shit we did thirty years ago, like haul the lab animals we freed in the back of pick-ups(because we ADOPTED THEM OUT back in the day... even the rats) would be absolutely horrifying to the modern ARer/actual animal hater. I'm sorry, I will NEVER believe kiiling an animal is saving it....

Exactly! There are better issues to worry about IMO. Kicking the Socialist out is #1 to me.

I guess in another way it matters too because that's just how someone from another country would view this. They'd only care about smaller issues like this and not about what's really at stake. And yeah, there's the whole "Messiah" thing with them. I'd better brace myself if he (hopefully) loses. Bet I'll have lots of people screeching that they want everyone who voted against him off their flist. *shrugs* My flist will be a lot smaller but I'll be better off for it.

Hee... After reading some LJ insanity (which probably had to do with the Supernatural fandom), I felt inspired to make it. His face just fit so well! :D

I did end up commenting on that meme and got a reply not from the friend who posted it, but from someone she'd gotten it from (who isn't even on her flist... hmmm...). She said that eating an animal is not as bad as abusing it. Didn't feel like arguing so I gave the standard "agree to disagree" and said it's not the most important issue to me in this election. Wonder what she'll say.

Gah, I felt like it took more than a year to slog through a day's worth of my flist. Had friends overseas posting "Congrats, World!!" And a very liberal friend (though we never discussed politics) picked a fight with me. I'd written a sorta rant about the election results that I stuck behind a cut with a warning. Didn't stop her from reading it and arguing with me about something I didn't even talk about in my post. I defriended her - she was more trouble than she was worth.

Don't blame you, it's really gotten crazy the past year or so. I've scaled back my involvement a lot. Only thing I do now is post episode reviews and art stuff, but that's about it. I still have a Castiel fanatic on my flist, but I ignore most of her posts.

I was about to say "PETA might disagree with you" to her. Out of curiosity I looked at her profile page and she said she's liberal on everything except animal rights and gun control. So I guess the issue here is defending the Barack love - not so much concern for the animals.

LOL, when I first read that I couldn't stop thinking "Wait, what??" I guess she's a Howard Dean liberal? (Thought I'd read some years back that he wasn't for gun control ... when he was VT governor, anyway...).

Sad is right. I've got a few old friends who have always been good, sensible people. Yet they "like" Barack or a link on Barack's page on Facebook. It's sad when people who you thought knew better are just part of the sheeple.
