Breitbart.com has an interesting take on this, which is that this is yet another example of Obama manipulating his public persona for different purposes at different times. And certainly, he is known to do that.

I have never been a birther. I've always felt it was just too much of a conspiracy theory for me to really buy into. I think this is weird, but beyond that...I dunno. The article is essentially documentation of the vetting and fact-checking BigGov did on this piece of information. So I put it to y'all, who are informed and intelligent people: what do you think about this?

I think if it ever is verified that he was, in fact, born in Kenya and the DNC covered it up, there will be consitutional crisis because that means everything he ever signed will be null and void.

And then, of course, there's that fiddly little thing called treason.

I don't know what to make of it, although the Breitbart site certainly makes a good point about his image manipulation.

However, if it ever were verified, they'd shove through a law changing the requirements for the presidency so fast it'd make our heads swim. There's not a doubt in my mind.

That would require an amendment to the constitution.

Then they'd find a way to change that. I guarantee, there are no lengths to which they would not go to save this presidency if it were ever jeopardized like that. Even if they had to turn the Constitution into toilet paper. They'd probably call it an "emergency measure for the good of the country" or some such rot.

Good luck with that after November. No incumbent has EVER been this far behind in an election year - and that includes Carter. They're going to be decimated, not just in Washington, but all over the country. This is the kind of bloodbath I can get behind.

Dick Morris was cautiously talking super-majority in the Senate back in March. And that was before Elizabeth Warren's Cherokee heritage went up in smoke signals.

Here in Texas, I'm pulling for Ted Cruz for US Senate to replace the RINO Kay Baily Huchinson.

YES. Ted Cruz sounds really good. Not Dewhurst, either.

I heard him speak at an event sponsored by Americans For Prosperity before KBH announced she was retiring. Someone in one of the Texas Tea Parties told me to keep an eye on him because it was their belief that he would be our next governor when Perry decided to retire. I read up on his record and was seriously impressed and have been a supporter ever since.

Much as I want Obama replaced in the oval, I have to admit, my inner Libertarian wants congress to be divided. My current ideological position wants conservative courts, a conservative pres, and a liberal or divided congress.

Basically, the *last* thing I want is effective government. I want my checks *solid* and my balances *rare*.

I would like to see Congress being effective at repealing laws. I mean, the standard of "success" seems to be measured on the number of new laws a politician was able to pass and that's just unacceptable.

Simple. Because he were truly honest about himself, no one would vote for him, or definitely not nationally.

Some commentary to better address your contention. 47 years to create an image, only to be undone in only 3-4. Amazing.

Thus is the problem with half truths. You never know which half is true.

Someone on Powerline said it best. The clothes have no emperor.

I don't know. Either he allowed or perpretrated the idea that he was born in Kenya, when he was actually born in Hawaai, in order to advance himself or get things he wasn't entitled to -

or he really was born in Kenya and the DNC is covering it up and we're in for a mess of problems.

I wouldn't put either one past Obama as he seems to be a very dishonest person who is only out for his own advancement and couldn't care less about the country.

The Zelig Presidency

The reason why this issue keeps dogging (har har) Obama is his whole persona is a "composite."

The pamphlet may be nothing more than Obama pulling an Elizabeth Warren and playing up his multiculti background to stand out (though Obama is genuinely of African descent, while Warren is whiter than Wonder bread). I'm almost certain he has portrayed himself as a foreigner to get into college, to get scholarships, etc.. They made a big deal out of Michele Bachmann's dual citizenship-by-marriage with Switzerland but Obama likely has multiple citizenships (Indonesia, Kenya) he has used at times for his own advantage.

But there are some lingering questions/issues. You get the feeling of, "What are they trying to hide?"

Apparently my sister's neighbor went to school with Barry in Chicago and remembers him being the Foreign Exchange student.

There are so many questions about the whole thing that it makes me suspicious. They won't come right out and show his birth certificate. Then they do so after some time has passed. It just smells of a cover up. However, he's already been in 4 years, I think it's a little too late now.

My two cents:

An individual who actually WAS born abroad but came to the US as an infant and grew up in a patriotic, mainstream American home would actually be more American, culturally and psychologically, than Obama.

I'm inclined to think that birthright citizenship should be done away with, anyway.

Hell, most people, born and raised abroad, that come here with the aid of coyotes or human trafickers are more american than Obama will ever be.

No, I don't think that can ever happen. I don't want someone acting as an agent for say, Iran or China or any of our enemies being elected to the highest office in our country (and at this point, the most powerful position in the world) and then destroying the USA from within. Not to say that couldn't happen via a natural-born U.S. citizen, but its far more likely to happen with someone born and raised overseas.

I think you may have misunderstood my meaning. I don't mean "doing away with the requirement that the POTUS must be a natural-born citizen." I agree that the POTUS needs to be a natural-born citizen.

I mean we should do away with the idea that being born on US soil automatically makes you a citizen.

I'm talking about being MORE stringent about citizenship, not less. I.E., if Mom and Dad are illegals who crossed over this morning from Tijuana and gave birth to you in San Diego, that should not make you a citizen. No more "anchor babies."

I could go for something like "in order to be a natural-born citizen, at least one of your parents needs to already be a citizen and needs to have resided here continuously for the past ten years." Something like that.

I'd say that's a good idea. (Though my grandfather and his siblings would not have been citizens under that rule, haha.)
