This is a awesome rant by Adam Carolla, most well know from MTV's "Loveline" show and also "Loveline" on the radio.  Be aware this is explicit.

I have no clue who that guy is, but I heard this the other day and cheered.

In the mid to late 1990's, he co-hosted a show on MTV called "Loveline" with Dr. Drew. Carolla's been a radio show host/co-host for years.

Well, whoever he is, he speaks some sense here! Glad this thing is getting a lot of attention.

Carolla's absolutely right. Ask any Occupier - he won't take just any job. It has to pay a fair wage. Doesn't matter if he's totally incompetent; those bankers get big paychecks, so he should too!

He'd probably refuse to work 48-hour shifts and travel constantly, like most of those evil bankers... but... but... FAIR! JUSTICE!

You'd be surprised at the number of comments I got to my comics indicating that I was enslaved and taken advantage of for taking low-paying jobs. (Or at least what they consider low-paying...) Like it was shameful or somethin' to make a living. What?

Eesh. I just don't get it.

I don't get it either. I was taught that it's shameful not to work.

This reminded me:

The other day I saw a guy on the sidewalk with a sign declaring he was on a "hunger strike" for a "living wage." It said a bunch of other things, too (it was a man-sized sign) but when I'm speeding by in my late-model Mazda that I have completely paid-off via my "living wage" job that doesn't involve flipping burgers or spinning signs...well, it makes it impossible to read that other stuff.

Seriously, people who demand "living/fair wages" live in La La Land where 2+2 doesn't equal 4 or something. They fail to consider that it is mathematically impossible for there to be a "living wage" for as overhead costs increase so do the costs of goods and services. You can't have a $.99 cheeseburger and pay your employees $12/hour. Unless there are strict price controls (which is what they want, of course) it is impossible. Now I have met people who rent their own apartments and have drivable cars and only work minimum wage jobs so I suppose if you want to badly enough you can make it work.

And price controls simply create shortages. Instead of $.99 hamburgs at $8/hr, you'd have 1.50 hamburgers at $12/hr, and no hamburgs at all if you forced them to be sold at $1 and still paid $12.
