I was wondering how y'all felt about the idea of someone doing a weekly news round-up post? I don't have anything for this week, but I wouldn't mind putting together something, if y'all were interested. Although, I should say, ending abortion is a cause I'm very passionate about so I will probably include at least something on that in each post.
On the fandomy things, I'm just curious what everyone's fandoms are and whether you write fic that you desperately want to pimp out or what your obsession of the moment is and so on. I know this comm seems to mostly focus on politics, but I'm curious about everyone's fandom-selves as well.

Date: 2011-07-15 11:50 pm (UTC)As for fandoms, I have a number of them. I'm about to do a "White Collar" story for a prompt at great_tales; when that goes up, I may put a link here if you guys don't mind. I don't think they have an awful lot of WC fans over there, so I'll need to drum up my own support. :-)

Date: 2011-07-15 11:56 pm (UTC)My fandoms are Supernatural, Star Wars, and Fringe. I mostly icon these days, and run a couple of icon-based communities. :) I'm almost entirely certain that no one in those circles knows I'm a Christian conservative. :p

Date: 2011-07-16 12:43 am (UTC)I also love Bones [TJ Thyne, who plays Dr. Hodgins, is one of the sweetest people I've ever talked to IRL], and I loved CSI:NY until Melina left and then Carmine Giovinazzo got married IRL and he stopped being my eye candy.
And slightly related to your post, but OT from the fandoms - I'm also very pro-life, but that's mostly because I had an unplanned pregnancy that would have ended in abortion if my child's father hadn't begged me to reconsider.

Date: 2011-07-16 02:00 am (UTC)My fandom is House, sort of. I haven't watched the show since season four, but I still can't let go of my favorite pairing, so I still write fic for them and I'm still active in that corner of the fandom.

Date: 2011-07-16 05:10 am (UTC)Like I said, I really don't write fanfics these days, but I do make icons and wallpapers every so often. I still have an old batch I might get around to posting sometime this summer...

Date: 2011-07-16 02:29 pm (UTC)I am totally incapable of sticking with one fandom for very long, but right now I'm on a huge BBC Sherlock kick. Doctor Who is another big fandom for me, as is Narnia. There are a few others, but those are probably the main ones. If anyone's curious, I do have a fanfic journal,

Date: 2011-07-16 03:04 pm (UTC)I've watched a great many shows religiously in my life and loved a lot of movies, but Angel was the first show I discussed online, though I was following BTVS spoilers at the same time. Discovering spoilers for shows is what got me doing the online thing. Primary discussion of what I currently watch happens at: http://risingstarforum.proboards.com/index.cgi
Sometimes more recent stuff tempts me for more fic, but I write original stories as my job, so I don't have time for fanfic anymore...which is guilt-inducing as I still have WIPs unfinished from a couple years ago. I ever get that writing cottage, I'll get SO much done.
Honestly, the list I've geeked-out over is too long to mention! I'm 34 and started picking fandoms at age 3.

Date: 2011-07-17 07:53 am (UTC)As for fandoms, I'm into Jrock (Mucc and D'espairsRay mostly) but I don't do much besides draw them.
Mortal Kombat and Metal Gear Solid are two video game series that I try to keep tabs on, and I have cosplayed from MGS, but again, no fiction. Just art occasionally.
Firefly, Mad Men, Castle, and Justified are the shows that I'm big on right now. ^^ Sucks that I don't have cable anymore so I get everything a season or two slower than everyone else. D:
Oh, and then there's the anime and manga..........
