Last night, conservative voters elected the first female Hispanic-American governor AND first female Indian-American governor in all of US history, as well as many Congress members of color from all over the country. In several areas where a person of color ran on a Republican ticket and lost, it was by an extremely close margin. More Latinos were elected to Congress under a Republican ticket than a Democratic one last night (and they were from nearly half a dozen ethnicities, so they can't just blame us Cubans for that one). Are we seeing the beginning of the end of media perception that racism and conservatism are mutually inclusive? Are these election results going to be enough?
The midterm election not only busted the myth that the GOP is a regional party – seeing Republican gains in the Northeast, Midwest and West – it also puts to rest the notion that Republicans are a lily white party whose base won’t embrace a diverse slate of candidates. In eight prominent contests, Republicans nominated and elected excellent candidates and fine conservatives who also happen to be people of color.

Indeed, but only when a liberal says it, as they are more compassionate, care more, don'tcha know.

I was just telling my husband that I wish we were at the point where candidates could be judged strictly on the content of their character, and not their skin color. On the other hand, it is still true that skin color and backgrounds do make a difference to a person's worldview, and from that perspective, it's nice to see diversity among the elected officials. More representative points of view is a good thing.

Haha, this post reminds me of when people tell me the Army is racist. I then point out that every First Sergeant I had besides one has been black. And all but two of my commanders have been black.

Answer to your question is, "Of course not." Because most liberals have in their minds only they can be the champions of the minorities. And all those Latinos are not real Latinos. They're like... unicorns and Leprecauns.

An icon that is animated that says, "All these are imaginary!" And it shows a unicorn, leprechaun, santa claus, and a Latino conservative.

Or just a unicorn with a sombraro would be funny.

And they say they're not racist because...they voted for a black president?

Conservatives will always be racist, and non-white, non-male conservatives will always get to hear that they don't count. It's the liberal way. d:

I am thinking of Harry Reid's "I can't believe Hispanics can be Republicans" line, yep. Brilliant in light of this, eh?

By a good 30 points, too. But, of course, the Left won't count that. I think their constant clinging to the racist meme despite evidence otherwise is one of the main reasons I don't respect them. Show some respect toward the other side -- they're improving, why not you?

I know, honestly. I am actually ashamed, as a White male, because it's White liberal racism that drives most of this attitude and their imposing designated leaders and identity politics. (Until both of these go, the racism issue will always be around, I'm sad to say.) Shelby Steele was so right about this.

Anyway, this may cheer you up:

It was always a lame meme to automatically discredit conservatism and keep various ethnic/social groups from straying out of The Village.

Oh....why is her name westernised? She should have kept her Indian name.

Still I hope she's not as extreme conservative as Jindal.....
