As you may or may not know, former GOP chairman Ken Mehlman recently revealed that he is homosexual. Apparently, that was the subject of Comedy Central's Marc Maron's recent "Tweeting", engaging in all sorts of vicious, gay jokes about Mehlman. Newsbusters.org has the details, and you may sound off in the Comments. I figured some of you might have an opinion on this, so I figured to spotlight and share.

Update: I have to learn to remember to spell "Twitter" properly. Blasted re-editing. Heh.

Making gay jokes is offensive and homophobic! Unless the gay person being mocked is a Republican. Then it's okay.

wow…just goes to show that liberals will take anything, anything at all, and use it to bash people. So Bush was against gay-marriage. That was Bush's ideals not this guys. Also, since when are gays a 'people' (aka ethnic group) I thought they were just people who…liked the same gender. Fucking asshats. (I support gay-marriage because of reasons like: it'll help cut down std's and why not, its not hurting the economy, if anything it'll help them) Plus its only the Catholic church that hates gays, most other ones (though there will always be exceptions to both statements) don't.

I support civil unions for similar reasons, but I take issue with the statement that the Catholic Church hates gays. The Catholic Church's views on homosexuality are unpopular, but not hateful.

Like I said, exceptions to all rules. It was generalization and I know the rule of the Catholic church is: marriage is for the sake of producing children. Still the generalization hurt your feelings so I apologize.

Still there's a lot of priests (and others) who've been very vocal about their dislike with gays. They're not as vocal as the Muslims and Neo (New?) Evangelicals though (and shit ton less violent.) These are of course can not be a summery of the religion as a whole, these are extreme sects of each religion. As a general rule its not good to throw everyone in the same pot.

Believing something is wrong is not hateful. Homosexual behavior is defined as sinful in the Bible, but the Bible also says that God hates sin, not the sinner.

Obviously, not being Christian, I disagree with that philosophy, but I would not call it hateful.

I'm not talking about the religion of the Catholic church, I'm talking about (that group of individuals) in amongst them that do speak out against gays and wish them condemned.

The hypocrisy speaks for itself.

This is absolutely ridiculous. It enrages me when anyone bashes homosexuals...especially people who want to "help" or more like use them.

FYI, in my personal opinion, I HIGHLY doubt that Bush personally disapproved of gay marriage, but because of party politics he did what he felt he needed to do. Still, that doesn't mean that Bush couldn't have someone on staff that didn't agree with him in some way. :O :O Having someone different??? That is so closed minded!!!

I need to say this. Using disapproval and dislike of homosexuals and homosexuality to your political advantage is still using homosexuals.

I completely agree.

So the tolerance and respect for homosexuals only extends to liberal homosexuals?

And the ACLU or the LGBT community hasn't jumped on Maron because...?
Oh right, Mehlman is conservative and thus it doesn't matter to them. Hypocrites.
