Why does this movie have such a low rating on imdb? I really hated the Twilight movie, so I really want to see this spoof. I am interested to see how they parody the misogyny. The trailer looked awesome.

Although with a more detailed list of "sex and nudity" in the movie, I wonder if it would be okay for my parents to see it...

That is a thing of beauty! And I never even watched 'Buffy'.

That's the way he really talks in the movies? What a creepy stalker! I fail to see the romantic draw of it. But hey, what do I know?

Appropriate icon is appropriate!

"Instead he just wanted to be sensitive and play the piano."

Snerk!

I kinda want to finish reading the books someday. I read the first one. I hate missing out, LOL!

You aren't missing anything. Edward's stalker behavior is only the tip of the iceberg for the Creep Factor 9 level the books go to.

I saw the trailer a while ago and it looks funny, albeit a dumb kind of funny. Having seen two of the Twilight movies, the satire seemed to be "dead-on." But that's just the trailer ;).

In any case, the "Not Another Date Movie"/"Meet The Spartans" type of flicks never rate very well with critics because it's all low-rent humor.

Stay away from these kind of movies. Just ... Stay away.

I bet you could find better Twilight parodies on YouTube.

And these two aren't one YouTube, but they are funny nonetheless.

I saw it, it was fairly dull after the first half hour and then they started making jokes about how the head vampires are a lot like Fox News. There were a few good parts but it got to a point of "when is this going to end?"

I saw it with my mom and my sister. It was good for a few laughs, but most of the best stuff was in the trailer. They don't really address the whole misogyny issue - or any of the other serious criticisms of the series. The targets of their humor are mostly the absurdity of the details like Edward sparkling and the quality of Kristin Stewart's acting. It wasn't horrible, but I've seen better parodies. [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda's "Movies in 15 Minutes" renditions, for one.

I have not seen this one, but I think the problem with these type of movies is that they stay on the surface, going for the cheap shots and never really get any deeper or get anything really clever going on.

From what I've seen of the trailers, which admittedly had some funny bits, I didn't see much new. It seemed more like they had watched a bunch of YouTube videos, some of which are very clever and funny, others not, and compiled a list of "how to make a Twilight Parody"

I think the other problem, specifically with this parody even more than other similar cheap parodies, is that the source material practically mocks itself. You have to put a little more effort to make a good, full length parody. We can already laugh at the movies as is, give me a good reason to pay to see this, you know? It'd be like making a parody of "Teen Witch". How could you possibly create something more loltastic than "Top That!"?

I should let you know, I am a Twilight fan. I know, I know. But I think you'll find that when you move away from the teenybopper crowd and cougar moms (not to say all moms and teens fit in those crowds) you'll find a lot of us love to make fun of Twilight as much as we actually like it. It does have a LOT of good material for that. We don't take it too seriously. So, trust me when I say, my lack of desire to see this has nothing to do with the fact that it is mocking Twilight and everything to do with the fact that it doesn't seem to be very innovative about it.

There are lots better things out there. A lot are on YouTube. As for written stuff, I know I have mentioned cleolinda: her book recaps, as well as her movies in 15 minutes recaps, and the "growing up cullen" chat transcripts.

And have you heard of rifftrax? They don't just mock the Twilight movies, but that's where I first heard of them. As I said before, the movies practically mock themselves. Basically the rifftrax guys record an audio commentary for the full length of the movie, where they're making fun of stuff. It's really amusing. great stuff. The funniest stuff is already in the movie. My sisters like to watch these movies after we've had a couple drinks.

Yeah, the books weren't great (my little sister got it for me as a gift so I had to read), but that scriptwriter they have for the Twi movies is even worse.

I love to make fun of Twilight as much as the next person, but this movie doesn't look funny at all. My friends and I could probably come up with better jokes during a lunch hour.

I agree with what one of the above posters said. If you want some good (free!) Twilight humor, check out [livejournal.com profile] m15m.
