I was just popping in to see reaction from the comm over McCain's renomination (which will lead to his reelection) to the Senate.

I will admit it; I marked the arrow next to his name. I listened to Hayworth's radio show, listened to him speak at Tea Party rallies. I met John McCain personally. I looked over how they voted. And I voted for what I thought was the lesser of two evils. I just felt like McCain, above all else, is fiscally conservative and despite living in Arizona I rank the economy 1st on my priority list and immigration 2nd.  My hope is that McCain will be held to his immigration promises by not only John Kyl, a man of untarnished reputation, but also the prominent law enforcement officials who endorsed him and (of course) we the people. I hope that he'll do the right thing (no pun intended, really) and not tack left going forwards.

Hayworth, by contrast, has no fiscal discipline. McCain did a great job of portraying him as a slimy opportunist--seriously, there isn't much to be said for a "Republican" who will encourage Americans to get "free money from the government" (I swear to God that entire scenario makes me think of the "Obama money" lunacy). The only thing that Hayworth had going for him was illegal immigration. And it wasn't enough. McCain steamrolled him.

Honestly, I would have liked for it to have been at least a close race instead of a landslide, as I think this will send the wrong message to the party at large, that if "McCain Republicanism" is OK in a red-red state like Arizona, then it must be OK everywhere else, too.

McCain DAMNED sure isn't a fiscal Conservative, OR politically Conservative. Conservatives of that type don't say they'll sit back and let millions of Mexicans and who knows what else come across that border he refuses to protect, as is his Constitutional DUTY. Fiscal Conservatives don't close their eyes and let these uneducated criminals flood our job market and hasten the nation into fiscal insolvency, by defrauding "entitlement" programs. He's a poor loser, and people I know that've met him say he's a PUNK. I voted for Palin, not this economic illiterate that supported taxing "windfall profits", to further intentionally f-up the economy and the nation.

As for criticizing Hayward about those ads, where were you when McCain had them on his official website? McCain is an idiot, and apparently you've fallen for his "look, I'm a border security hawk" BS commercials. He can't fool me, and won't. His opponent campaigned on everything McLame refuses to do, and you vote the same guy back in that couldn't give two shits about you, rising federal spending, illegal aliens literally INVADING your state and crashing the economy, nor raise a finger to support the governor from his own state. He's a RINO, just like his stupid daughter, and I will not hurt the party by keeping RINOs in undeserved political power. I think you people have made a serious mistake that has hurt the party and the nation, both.

McCain is a menace, and part of the self-proclaimed "ruling class". He should've been given his pink slip, and instead, we see his laughably stupid pretence at being a Conservative rewarded with years more of the power to push us around and bankrupt us. He's the illegal alien's best friend (with Flimsy Shamnesty), he hasn't met a liberal he hasn't liked, and can't run fast enough to sit with the leftists and make more plans to take/piss away more of our rights and liberties. When I say "defeat liberalism", I include him under that narrow tent.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm just glad to see someone said it. Besides, even if the OP was right and McCain was a better choice for the economy (which I know he is not) even though he's not such a good choice on immigration, it's not like the illegal immigration issue exists in a vacuum. It effects the economy.

When did McCain become a fiscal conservative? I mean, it's easy to act conservative when the guy who beat you is in White House, but there ain't a fiscal discipline bone in his body.

I understand why you sometimes go with the devil you know. But as for the immigration promises, consult the current Eminem/Rhianna hit "Love The Way You Lie."

And we're stuck with Meagan McCain for another six painful years. *Cries.*
