Aug. 24th, 2010 11:26 pmI was just popping in to see reaction from the comm over McCain's renomination (which will lead to his reelection) to the Senate.
I will admit it; I marked the arrow next to his name. I listened to Hayworth's radio show, listened to him speak at Tea Party rallies. I met John McCain personally. I looked over how they voted. And I voted for what I thought was the lesser of two evils. I just felt like McCain, above all else, is fiscally conservative and despite living in Arizona I rank the economy 1st on my priority list and immigration 2nd. My hope is that McCain will be held to his immigration promises by not only John Kyl, a man of untarnished reputation, but also the prominent law enforcement officials who endorsed him and (of course) we the people. I hope that he'll do the right thing (no pun intended, really) and not tack left going forwards.
Hayworth, by contrast, has no fiscal discipline. McCain did a great job of portraying him as a slimy opportunist--seriously, there isn't much to be said for a "Republican" who will encourage Americans to get "free money from the government" (I swear to God that entire scenario makes me think of the "Obama money" lunacy). The only thing that Hayworth had going for him was illegal immigration. And it wasn't enough. McCain steamrolled him.

Honestly, I would have liked for it to have been at least a close race instead of a landslide, as I think this will send the wrong message to the party at large, that if "McCain Republicanism" is OK in a red-red state like Arizona, then it must be OK everywhere else, too.

Date: 2010-08-25 03:11 pm (UTC)As for criticizing Hayward about those ads, where were you when McCain had them on his official website? McCain is an idiot, and apparently you've fallen for his "look, I'm a border security hawk" BS commercials. He can't fool me, and won't. His opponent campaigned on everything McLame refuses to do, and you vote the same guy back in that couldn't give two shits about you, rising federal spending, illegal aliens literally INVADING your state and crashing the economy, nor raise a finger to support the governor from his own state. He's a RINO, just like his stupid daughter, and I will not hurt the party by keeping RINOs in undeserved political power. I think you people have made a serious mistake that has hurt the party and the nation, both.
