He's posted on his blog that he has decided to cancel all his tour dates there, and that playing his 2 previously scheduled concert appearances in Israel will be perceived as his support of "oppression in the name of liberation" and being complicit in "the suffering of the innocents", meaning the Palestinians.

Liberal anti-Semites are really transparent, aren't they?

Nice. I'll boycott his music. That's really easy because I don't listen to him to begin with.

My thoughts exactly...I only know who he is, other than that I will continue not listening to his music but now it's purposely avoiding rather than an accidental one.

Che Guevara fanboy Carlos Santana is also boycotting Israel. Coincidentally, I read this disturbing piece about this new wave of anti-Semitism that's hiding behind opposition to Israel:

Have these tools announced tour cancellations in China, one of the most notorious abusers of human rights? Nope. Do they care about the lack of freedom in Cuba or Venezuela? *Chirping crickets.* How about that godawful regime in North Korea? *Shrug.* For that matter they haven't said a damn thing about terrorism on the part of Palestinians or radical Islam. Only the Jewish state gets singled out and accused of things that aren't even true or accurate.

Thanks for this article. Much of the problem is an ignorance of history. As it says:

We must confront those who pervert history with incontrovertible evidence of their falsehoods.

The problem is that regardless of the topic at hand, evidence and facts don't seem to make much difference in people's view of things. After all, we've all been brainwashed with the nonsense that, "We all have our own truth."

So if someone chooses to believe that Israel is always the aggressor and the Palestinians are the helpless, innocent victims, then nothing will sway them from that - even if it costs them their own lives, à la Rachel Corrie.

What's true for you is true for you, and what's true for me is true for me.

It's insanity.

You know, I'm not surprised one bit about Carlos Santana. He's the reason why his band pretty much sucks right now (which is a shame, because they used to be awesome). Anyway, the man's in love with himself, and he tries to outdo the rest of the band with his guitar now. He's obnoxious.

Also, thank you for posting that article. It's very chilling how people are ready and willing to jump on this anti-Semitic bandwagon and not even realize it.

I'm greatly disappointed. I'm a fan of Elvis Costello's music. UGH.

If Diana Krall (Elvis Costello's wife) comes out with anything stupid, my heart will break in two. I think I love her music even more.

Elvis Costello is a smart/talented man. His political beliefs about Israel makes me sad. I'm a fan of his but haven't bought anything in a long time.

My main feeling in this sort of thing is 'no one cares'. How about write a song instead. First of all, it makes no sense. You can do a thing in a place without endorsing the place - the people are not the state, the nation-as-itself is not its government. To make this all about me, I'm fine fishing in Pennsyltucky even if half the population is vocally racist. Acting like he's being paid directly by terrorist squads. Secondly, again, no one cares. Regardless of the opinion itself, who the hell wants to listen to rock stars making press statements on politics: nobody.

The logical extension is that no Western band should ever play in the Middle East, or vice-versa. Which makes total sense.
