Many moons ago I worked for the state as a Commercial Driver's License Examiner. Did you know that it is a federal regulation that a CDL Holder "Must read and speak English well enough to respond to official enquires"? But the Knowledge Tests are required at the state level to be given in 32 languages. I hated when I had to deal with examinees who could not respond to not even respond to "How are you doing today" without a translator. I would then explain that I could not test them. But they already had a legal Learner's permit. I've even been called a racist for simply quoting the federal regulation. I've worked in areas with large numbers of illegals from various countries, while some will try and learn the language, there are also those who refuse to and I just see them spending their lives trapped in virtual slavery. The biggest problem is how do we deal with the ones already here. YIS, WRI
