azjournal is pitching a fit over Arizona's largest conservative blog equating President Obama to Hitler/Mao/Stalin, etc via a short photo essay. I found it highly ironic that this guy, whom I've butted heads with before, is only now finding the Nazi comparison offensive. Its something Republicans and conservatives in general have lived with for the last forty years and its so mainstream that its actually hip and even played for laughs. Where was this guy's outrage then?
I'm not stating that two wrongs make a right, but its strange how the Left called the conservatives "Nazis" because the Left felt oppressed by our not letting them rob our pocketbooks much in the way an angst-ridden teen feels "oppressed" when his parents won't let him drive the car. Now that this country actually is becoming oppressed in reality--on paper and in policy--and the Right is moving to stop such oppression and drawing the appropriate historical comparisons, the Left suddenly finds their conscience and declares the term offensive and disrespectful to the dead. Its just baffling.
What is disrespectful to the dead is for us to forget which road led us to those deaths. What turns were taken, the decisions that were made. We're back on that road again and the Left wants us to wear a blindfold so we can't see where we are going until we've arrived there and its too late. To deny this is and allow ourselves to be lead would be the worst thing we could do, and I'm quite glad that the sleeping giant has again been wakened to keep us from forgetting and repeating those past mistakes. I can't wait until 9/12.
PS:
azjournal is a very liberal comm. Its rare to lure the conservatives out of the woodwork to go toe-to-toe with these guys so I'm glad to see that some of us have come out. :)

Date: 2009-09-09 03:53 pm (UTC)But if you're comparing some of Obama's tactics to the tactics of Nazis and communists, especially as far as propaganda and now "reaching out" to the children, then there IS a comparsion to be made. And I see nothing is nothing wrong with making it. (Except for the fact that NO ONE seems to get what you're saying.)
Why can't people grasp this?
