CPAC 2007

Anyone here planning to attend CPAC in March?  Friday is the last day for the early bird registration package, which locks in last year's prices.  I'm currently staring at the website wondering which banquets to attend and which to skip in favor of bar-hopping in Georgetown.  Hmm.

It depends on what you're there for. Are you there to network or to listen to the speakers? Are you comfortable with black-tie affairs (I'm guessing that that's what these are)? If you're there to network, you might want to be as visible as humanly possible; if you're there to listen, skip the black-tie and go find a little place in DC to eat. There's a Japanese/sushi joint off of Dupont Circle that has fantastic food and nightly karaoke, if that's your thing.

What is this like? It sounds very interesting. I would love to work for one of the groups there or any conservative group.

I was kind of intrigued myself, but I'm not in a financial position to swing both the hotel and the convention itself. Travel is no big, I live in Maryland, but I've always found that no matter how close you live to a conference, you'll have more fun in the host hotel.

You know, wouldn't be cool to stage a community meet at CPAC?

I know a few, not just of this group but others like 'hip_republicans' and 'libtards' that would be neat for all of us to meet up.

[livejournal.com profile] hip_republicans? Never heard of it?

I'm a bit too libertarianish to fit with CPAC, and I'm way too poor for their asking price. I'd love to see Cheney speak again, and the location's local to me, but... yeah. I'd want to throttle some of their speakers.
