Hey guys! It's Friday again, and Round 2 of the Epic Villains Showdown is up on my journal!

Thanks for all the participation last week! That poll is now closed, and this week is admittedly far harder... I don't know who to vote for, and I imagine y'all will run into the same problem! This time, we might have to geek out more: this time, we may have to actually debate/discuss! ;)

In honor of today's debate over Planned Parenthood, I wish to spotlight the Florida ACLU's current master plan: incorporating women's uteruses (uterii?). Click the links for the rest.

On the plus side, Van Jones thinks the whole idea is "GENIUS!" Michelle Malkin has posted on that, recently.

Of course, I don't have a uterus, so I can't get involved. I'm afraid any joke I'll say will naturally have the wrong meaning, so I'll stop here. Heh.

Exit question, via Michelle Malkin: So which union will represent the unborn babies who inhabit these incorporated uteruses?

So... our government appears to be heading for a shutdown. I am glad the GOP stood their ground and refused to give in to the Democrats, but I know there will be some negatives to this such as delayed tax refunds. My parents could certainly use that money, but our government definitely needs a tremendous budget cut.

I do wonder who the American public will ultimately blame for the shutdown. the Republicans won the House because everyone was angry with Democrat spending. So the American public should realize that the Republicans are striving to reduce the deficit the best way they can. However, Reid just now demonized Boehner.

As the battle for Planned Parenthood continues onward, far smarter people are now speaking out: I mean, of course, the celebrities. Enjoy Scarlett Johansson's PSA.

“A cancer that goes undetected, a sexually transmitted disease left untreated, a woman unable to get the birth control she needs to plan her family and take control of her own destiny. This is the disastrous vision of some leaders in the United States Health of Representatives,” Johansson says in a new YouTube video. “Every year, Planned Parenthood provides this essential care to millions of women, men and teens. For many people — especially those with low incomes — Planned Parenthood is their only source of health care. Let your members of Congress know where you stand.”

For a unique counter, read John Nolte's translation:

“Even though I have more money than the God I don’t believe in, taxpayers should still foot the bill to murder the innocent unborn, especially the disproportionally Black innocent unborn. When I say essential care to millions of women, I mean killing babies. When I say health care, I mean killing babies. When I say STDs, I mean killing babies. When I say birth control, you better believe I mean killing babies. I’m a movie star mostly known for my awesome body but I want to be taken seriously and so even though there’s hunger in the world, war, disease, and slavery — this is my issue. Killing babies.

Has anyone seen my smart-girl glasses? They were right here.”

Meanwhile, NRO makes the obvious observation: no mention of abortion in the PSA. How about that?

In case that isn't enough, here are more celebs pitching in. (I have a bit of personal heartache, per Kathryn Erbe's inclusion at 0:40. Not surprised, as I posted on Erbe's PP activism, a year ago. At least, she is being consistent.)

As for the demagoguery from actual Democrats, I may post on some of that, later. I had a larger exit question in mind, but my mental energy is drained at present. (I'll either re-edit it in, or save it for a future entry.) Enjoy the amusing exit question below as a semi-decent substitute. As always, you make the call.

Exit question: Why did Johansson go for the sweater look? It looks like she is trying to co-opt Mr. Rogers' look, or something. I don't expect her to be in a tube top, though, it does highlight the PSA's overall pretentious ness (IMO). Feel free to convince me otherwise.

Update/Nota bene: In case anyone wishes to engage in any full-on debate of federally funded abortion, I would prefer to stay on-topic (spotlight on the Hollywood Left). I'm saying this, as to somewhat avoid what happened with the Lisa Edelstein PP entry. Nevertheless, I'm not opposed to a good side tangent or two, if done right. Fair enough?

Update 2: AP chimes in:

Two questions for you as you watch Scarlett Johansson ignore the giant elephant in the room. One: If [WaPo's Ezra] Klein’s right that abortion is an insignificant little nothing in the grand scheme of Planned Parenthood’s “business,” why don’t they drop the service? Stick with contraception and cancer screening, etc, and they’ll never have to worry about funding again, Pelosi’s latest insane demagoguery notwithstanding. And two: As I said to one of our trolls who was whining about this in Headlines, I thought a core principle of true “choice” warriors was that there’s nothing to be ashamed of in defending abortion. On the contrary, we’re told, we should celebrate the fact that we live in a country so “evolved” that abortion is not only widely available, it’s actually a constitutional right. Okay, then, why isn’t PP celebrating it? Where’s Scarlett’s “Say it loud, we abort and we’re proud” battle cry on PP’s behalf? Mystifying.
