Here is an amusing double standard entry for the ladies, here. Apparently, John Boehner is converting the Parliamentarian's office into a women's restroom that will give the same access to facilities the men have.

The fun part is the sheer irony, pointed out by both Hotair's Ed Morrissey and L.A. Times' Andrew Malcolm. It seems that equal treatment is starting to be applied after the first female Speaker loses power.

Why wasn't this done, sooner, the reader may ask? It was, under the "Potty Parity Act," earlier this year. (Insert the "not kidding" tag.)

The rest is, as Morrissey observes, another example of Congress not being applied to the same rules it imposes on the rest of us. At least, Boehner is trying to correct this, and good for him. Meanwhile, if anyone wishes to do any toilet humor jokes, go for it, but keep them clean if possible. Heh.

Update (12/4): NRO's K. Lo opines further in a nifty Townhall piece. Enjoy.

Just because I am concerned I will find myself at ground zero for this, since I am in Phoenix, and because obviously this concerns everyone who legally resides in this fair country of ours...

Luis Gutierrez ready to launch massive civil disobedience campaign if DREAM Act fails

The DREAM Act, Gutiérrez says, is for now his final legislative maneuver. He’s finished waiting for the mythical 60th vote to materialize in the Senate. No, when the lame duck ends, Gutiérrez and his movement allies will ask for a divorce—from the Democratic Party, from the entire lawmaking process. To hear Gutiérrez tell it, Hispanic leaders are about to stage a full-tilt campaign of direct action, like the African-American civil rights movement of the 1960s. There will be protests, marches, sit-ins—what César Chávez might have called going rogue. The movement will operate autonomously, no longer beholden to wavering Democrats, filibustering Republicans, and—perhaps most tantalizingly—no longer beholden to Barack Obama…

“When black people in this country decided they were going to fight for civil rights and for voting rights, they didn’t ask if the majority leader was with them and when they were going to tee up the bill. They said, ‘We’re sitting where we need to sit on the bus! We’re integrating this counter! We’re going to march!”

Gutiérrez is pacing around the room and his voice is rising. “Their actions propelled the nation. It’s the way changes are made. Look at John F. Kennedy—he was president. Martin Luther King, I don’t think he was real concerned whether he was going to re-elected in 1964.”

I guess Mr. Gutierrez is missing the key difference between the civil rights movement lead by Mr. King and what he seeks to accomplish today: the blacks were citizens of the United States who were being denied their civil rights because of their skin color. Hispanics in this country do not have that problem; Mr. Gutierrez is seeking rights for illegal residents who have done nothing but break our laws since they set foot on our soil, and, to put a finer point on it, he is doing this for only one specific group of illegals--Hispanics (I do not see or hear anything about him standing for Chinese illegals or Somalian illegals, etc).

If he does this and people actually follow him, I am concerned the city of Phoenix could basically shut down, even more than it did last time when they had the massive marches and protests a few years ago. Further, the climate here is very volatile (anytime a Hispanic gets arrested for anything--doesn't even matter if he's holding a smoking gun--people stage protests, etc) and I would be concerned that violence would break out. I am sure that all of the organizing groups (La Raza, Chicanos Por La Causa, Brown Berets, Mi Familia Vota, Atzlan, etc) will all turn out in force to offer their "support."

This guy is crazy. Recently he declared his only loyalty is to "the immigrant community" even though he took the oath of office that pledges his loyalty to the U.S. Constitution. If he does this, I would hope he'd be removed from office for blatantly violating his oath, and that would be for starters.

So, Charlie Rangel is being censured. What exactly does it mean to be censured? My parents asked me that question, and I have no idea...

If you can spare just a few dollars from your Christmas shopping, Chanukah gelt, or Yule Merriment Fund, it would go a long way.  Israelis are thrifty people, and they can stretch a dollar longer than anyone I know.  Nothing will be wasted on stupid things that don't help, corruption or bureaucracy.
