What years do you think the first episode of Doctor Who's new season occurred? It never gave any indication either way. I think the years are...
2005;2017;2019
After all, we never saw the Doctor go to any different time period right after he saw Rose again in 2005. He went up into the sky, regenerated, and then crashed. This would not be the first time he took a companion from a future time period. Sarah Jane first appeared in the 1970s, but she was from the 80s. Placing his companion as from the future would be a stronger way to distance this Doctor from his earlier companions, and this would also be more unique for the new series.
