So what do you all think about Congress "summoning" the heads of Caterpillar, At&T, etc to appear before them (God, why does this whole scenario sound like something that should be taking place in a country with actual monarchs instead of the pretend-kind?) to "explain" the increased costs they've attributed to Obamacare?

Does Congress really even have the power to make these demands? I didn't know Congress could "try" people, even if it is only in the (very powerful) Court of Public Opinion, and that's exactly what this is: a show "trial" meant to intimidate anyone who would dissent against The One and his administration and the verdict of "guilty" is a fait accompli.

What this does (I hope) is turn businesses off to Democrats forever. This is pure thuggery and these corporations should recognize it as such. They obviously had no idea that releasing the accounting impact of Obamacare on their businesses would bring them any undue scrutiny---since it never had in the past, right? I would honestly be amazed if any of them were stupid enough to support a Democrat after all of this, but life is full of surprises. I would also hope that these corporations would hire the best lawyers to prepare defamation suits against the individual members of Congress who call for and participate in these hearings.

What's really funny is that this trial may, in my opinion, backfire on the Statists in Congress by showing how a private business that doesn't have unlimited funding like the government supposedly does (when the tax-well dries up, the government has no where to go) must be open, honest, and accountable in its accounting practices. Unlike the government, it cannot fake/hide/torture its numbers to get the result it wants and damn the consequences because it will fail, a la Enron, etc. Perhaps this trial will be the tipping point that will expose Obamacare for what it is as all of these accountants come out of the woodwork to say "2+2=4. The reason your numbers don't match our numbers is because on your ledgers 2+2=22. Reality finds you incorrect."

Its all just so incredibly ridiculous.
