I had a feeling it was coming as soon as I heard he wanted to make yet another prime-time appearance.

Bones has been pre-empted yet again because he's waffling on Tuesday, which means Fox is having to put American Idol on at different times. Personally, I don't care about AI, but I do care about Bones, which seems to be the constant loser in these situations.

But, I've also learned that CBS has decided not to air a new NCIS on Tuesday. It'll be a re-run instead. And, of course, The Mentalist won't be shown because that's the timeslot when he's scheduled to speak.

I don't watch a lot of prime-time network tv. My hubby usually plays video games or watches sports if he can't find anything else. The three shows I've listed above are the ONLY shows I make a point of watching.

This man frustrates me beyond belief. In fact, I'm in a general state of frustration right now. I vented yesterday on my own LJ because of what's happening so I won't repeat myself here. But this man is treating his position like he's a pop star. I mean, he's out of Washington again today. He's like these pop stars who don't have an ounce of talent and someone else is writing the songs he sings. At this point, it almost wouldn't surprise me if he was another Milli Vanilli, except his stumbles are all too real.

The only thing that may make this whole thing better is a drinking game for every time the man turns his head to read a teleprompter or for the number of times he says, "er" during the Q and A.

Or maybe hubby will just decide to play his Star Wars Lego game instead. It's much more interesting to watch *g*

So what do y'all think about what is going on with the AIG bonuses? I'm hearing about it daily and I don't like that these bonuses got paid out using--all or in part--tax dollars. However, what I dislike even more is that the government and the media are demonizing the recipients of the money that was owed to them per a pre-existing contract that was actually OK'd by the government last year. Now these people are recieving death threats simply for asking that their legally-binding contract be honored and the government is seeking to identify these individuals and specifically tax them (what the hell? this is entirely unprecendented, probably un-Constitutional, and frankly downright scary)  with the direct intention of taking those bonuses back.

This makes me incredibly uncomfortable because this is the government attempting to modify and/or nullify a legally binding contract. I was not aware that anyone save the parties directly involved (AIG and their employees) have that ability, and that both parties must consent to the modification through a specific legal process. The government is trying to forcefully intervene and bypass that legal process and bypass the consent of the two individiuals. This isn't the first time, either, because the government is trying to do the same thing with mortgages. If the government establishes the precedent (legal or not) of this intervention, then no contract is safe and the establishment of any contract would become pointless (if it can be nullified at any time by government/court intervention without going through the proper legal process). Further, the idea that the government can pass laws to tax specific individuals (not groups or classes, but say "I specifically want to tax John Smith--not Joe Blow or Jane Doe--to get X amount of money from him," well, that's just just such a huge and scary power-grab that  I can't describe it.

What do you think?

I just saw this on the Google Ads sidebar. How apt:

It's not enough that the man is busy touring talk shows and picking teams for the NCAA tournament, we have to fill our schedules with cocktail parties. Yeah, because seriously, what else should a President be doing? I don't know, learning how to speak without a teleprompter? Doing something constructive about the recession? Keeping a muzzle on his gaffe-tastic VP? Nope, it's much more important to spiff up and shmooze. Cheers, American tax-payer!

Thanks to next week's pre-empting of Bones, I've just heard that the season finale may end up being shoved off somewhere... like the new season

Beware: even the website address contains a potential spoiler
Story here - but does contain spoilers!

Right now, it's hopefully just rumour. But Fox has messed this show around continuously since moving it to Thursdays, and Obama's party gimmicks aren't exactly helping matters!
