I don't know much about the back story, but it looks like a great film. A lot of people who saw this at Sundance commented on how moving it was and that it didn't have a political message tied to it like so many other movies these days. Could it be that THEY are starting to get it right? The song playing during the middle of the trailer is "Comes and Goes (In Waves)" by Greg Laswell if you're interested.

Update- A person who was at the Sundance premiere said that the movie got a standing ovation. But, most importantly, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Strobl, the man who brought Chance Phillips home, also received a standing ovation. America continues to amaze me.

Who do you want for the RNC chair?

It seems like Steele is going to win, but he's not my pick (and I hope he's not winning for the wrong reasons, i.e. race). I don't like his positions that we (the GOP) need to be more centrist and be more flexible on social issues (like abortion and gun control). He wants to "widen the umbrella" not by drawing people to us but by setting aside or outright dropping some of the principles of the party. I don't like that idea at all.

Edit: Looks like Michael Steele won. So, who would your pick have been?

I thought this would be a fun exercise as clearly there are people on my friend's list who have different opinions on different issues in the political world. Taking a cue from http://www.ontheissues.org/, take five or more of these issues and list your opinions:

International Issues )

Domestic Issues )

Economic Issues )

:Social Issues )
