Serves me right for missing this episode. Sighs. Then again, if I see Tina Fey playing the flute and mocking Palin's "goshdarnit" one more time, and I'm punching my monitor. Details within. Special thanks to hotair.com.

I think we'll be heading for slippery slope domain, soon. If the Sandlers can pull this off, then anyone with deep pockets can do the same (well, the left has more money, you do the math).

Update (10/7): SNL will now re-write the script: http://michellemalkin.com/2008/10/07/flash-snl-rewriting-bailout-skit-didnt-meet-their-standards/

Plus, Michelle Malkin offers a transcript and caps: http://michellemalkin.com/2008/10/07/the-forbidden-skit-full-transcript-and-screenshots-of-snls-sorossandler-bailout-satire/

This was the largest re-enlistment ceremony ever held in military history. The ceremony was held on the 4th of July, 2008 at Al Faw Palace, Baghdad, Iraq . General David Petraeus officiated. This amazing story was ignored by the 'mainstream' media.

For those who have been in the Al Faw Palace, you'll have a better appreciation of the number of people crammed around the rotunda supporting the re-enlisting soldiers.

Palin Rally

I just got home from the Palin Rally in Jax. I got to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] leahfu which was really cool. We got to be pretty close to the stage and getting to see Sarah live was just cooler than I can express. I have some great pictures of the speech that I'll post in a bit if people are interested but I wanted to talk about what happened afterward first.

We were waiting to watch her motorcade leave and there were three marines standing across the street.

these three )

As Palin's car drove close to them, after the lead cars and motorcycles had already taken off, it stopped. She jumped out of the car (at least, as much as you can jump with a secret service detail), ran across the street and shook their hands. Then she ran back and took off. I just thought it was very classy.

Here she is shaking their hands )

Alright, now off to re-size the rest of the pictures.

As [livejournal.com profile] some_day_soling had said before we went to the Palin rally today. While I CANNOT compare to the awesomeness of her getting pictures of Sarah shaking hands with the Marines(best part of the whole thing).

Buuuuut... )

A priceless sotry you will all appreciate:

I was sitting alone in my political sociology classroom about twenty minutes early when another classmate came in.  We'll call him Al.  Al is a bigwig in the college Democrats on campus and often uses our class as an excuse to get up on his soapbox.  Anyway, he puts his stuff down and says to me, "You seem pretty liberal.  Why haven't you ever done anything with College Democrats?"

I unhooked my earphones (I had been watching Doctor Who on my iPod (Army of Ghosts *squee*)), and said, "Because I'm not liberal."

"Oh," he said.  Short pause.  I had to ask.

"What made you think I'm liberal?" I asked, incredibly curious.  I always went out of my way to remain impartial in the classroom setting unless we were required to specifically express our affilitations.

"Oh, you've got style, and you always say intelligent things in class."

I raised my eyebrows.

"I'm kind of an elitist Democrat," he said with a bashful smile, "in case you haven't noticed."

"I'd picked up on that."

Awkward pause.  I put my headphones back on.  The rest of the class soom came in, leaving me to think ...

... Freaking seriously?!?!?!?!?!

Michelle Malkin lays out what to expect of tonight's debate. Don't set your expectations too high.

Between Brokaw and Scheffer for debate moderators, you might have a case for bias. Sighs. When are we allowed to train journalists and moderators to be objective, again?

Also, Palin weighs in, and has a great finish. Link from Tammybruce.com.

The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, a nonpartisan oraganization that works to help veterans get a voice in today's politics, has put out their score card for the year, reporting how every senator and representative has done supporting veterans.

How did Obama and McCain fare?

What do you all think about this?

(Incidentally, if you're interested in the rights of veterans, you should sign up on the IAVA's web site.)

I'm dedicating this to lazypadawan, because I'm feeling nice and this is up her alley. Plus, there is none of Vader's big "Noooooooooooo!"

Since it turned out so well for the VP debate, I figured I'd see if anyone wanted to watch this debate together. :)

I really, really hope we get the fighting McCain tonight rather than the conciliating one. *crosses fingers*
