I just received this email from a friend:

This is the easiest vote you will ever make. It takes literally five seconds.

Let's turn this around!!!

PBS has a short video on Sarah Palin on their website. Also included is a poll that asks: Is Sarah Palin qualified to be VP? PBS's natural constituency - the left - is, of course, voting against Sarah Palin.

A short while ago 45 % percent had voted YES, 54 % NO.

Let's turn this around and give PBS a good poke in the eye ..... You don't have to give your name or email address in order to vote. It's very simple.

Here's the link:

So, my friend posted this: http://community.livejournal.com/ontd_political/775980.html on her LJ. Anyone else want to rip ONTD_political aka liberalists to the extreme a new one? Please feel free.

Also, since everyone is comparing our future VP to that "god" running for President, I asked all of the liberals on my f-list a question.

WHY are you ALWAYS comparing her to Barack? Shouldn't you be comparing John McCain to him? I mean, I DO BELIEVE we nominated HIM as our candidate, NOT her. It boggles my mind how the man running for commander in chief, President, first in charge against the VP candidate. She's 2nd in line. Are you too afraid to compare your not-so-god-like-but-you-think-he-is-anyway Barack to John McCain? A war veteran who has been serving this country longer than Barack has been alive? Or what is it because I have YET to see those two compared in anyway? Do it. I dare you. Do it and Barack doesn't stand a chance. But compare him to Palin and he seems amazing.

Meh. Can't WAIT to see their response.

Hello!

I'm a new member -- I just joined yesterday after scouring LJ for some McCain/Palin-friendly communities, which took the better part of the day (I love my f-list, but their politics do not mesh well with mine). I'm a registered Independent with Right'ish leanings (I prefer to consider myself a Centrist). This really seems like a great group, and the discussions I've looked at seem to be well-informed and even-tempered, so I'm looking forward to jumping in!

Something occurred to me the other day, after reading about the rumors involving Joe Biden possibly stepping down due to health reasons. If this does happen, and it happens after the VP debates, will another debate be organized to give Palin a chance to speak against whoever Biden's replacement might be? What might the repercussions of such an eleventh-hour switcheroo be? I ask because Senator Obama seems to have a reputation for changing the rules at the last minute, so they better serve his interests (IIRC, this is how he won two of his elections in Illinois -- loopholes and rule-changes -- and I wouldn't be surprised if he had a hand in Pelosi changing the petition requirement from 300 signatures to 800 to prevent Hillary from even having a chance at the DNC). Any thoughts?

I found some informative opinion pieces on the financial "crisis" this morning that have helped my understanding of both cause and effect. Thought others might like to look through them as well.

Makes me want to reread Friedman, Rand, and Heinlein )

I don't know about y'all, but I keep hearing Ben Stein in my head going, "Something d - o - o economics...voodoo economics...." And then I remember that it's not a recession until there are two consecutive quarters of negative growth. And that hasn't happened yet.

Um, have y'all seen this yet?

Well, that's an interesting turn of events, if I do say so.

Mr. President, this week Fannie Mae's regulator reported that the company's quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were  )

I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation.

Too bad this was shot down.

Something for the pro-lifers out there.

Laura Ingraham brought this up on her radio show today, and I later found a transcript on newsbusters.org. I should immediately point out that my contention is different from the link below (in that of, "the McCains were asked on abortion, yet the Obamas were not"). In a Good Morning America interview with the McCains earlier today, Diane Sawyer asked the pair about repealing Roe vs. Wade, and Cindy's answer was most... bemusing.

SAWYER: But- But, Mrs. McCain, do you oppose the repeal of Roe versus Wade? Was that report correct?

CINDY MCCAIN: You know, there are people that are without jobs, that are hurting whose businesses have collapsed, who don't know where they're going to find money to feed their families. This is not the major issue on people's minds right now. What concerns me is when I talk to people like people today on this farm, people we had dinner with last night, they're having trouble making ends meet. A difference in how we stand on abortion or things like that are not what's foremost in the voters' mines right now, at all.
Wouldn't it have been proper to simply say, "I agree with my husband," therefore, not deflecting the question like she had? On the other side, has Mrs. McCain ever expressed any interest into the abortion debate? Either way, it will be interesting to see how the pro-lifers feel on her response. They've had a major roller coaster ride, lately, with their general unease over the initial VP speculations (remember the hoopla on Tom Ridge?), then their eventual celebration of Palin.

At the end of the day, McCain's stance on the issue is known, so what's left to say? If you want to split the difference, discussing both on Cindy's reply and why GMA didn't pose the question to the Obamas, go for it.
