Recently, someone asked me on here about the Fairness Doctrine, and how it could affect talk radio and what not (my memory is failing me, so who was that, again?). So, I thought to elaborate, as you should be mindful of it. Here's a basic, simplistic June '08 explanation. I'm also going to include a link to my LJ, as I explore the micro details, along with my own personal take on the matter (if you're interested for such things). I'm doing the link, as the micro details are quite encompassing (i.e., long).

If you're into media and their finer subtleties, then you ought to give it a look.

...this time, it's Anne Shooter (felicitous name!) from the Daily Mail.

And she does end her piece with:
I felt fabulous. All that height felt elegant and flattering - and seemed to elongate my face and emphasise my cheekbones.

By the time I'd added Sarah's make-up (again, it might look natural but was, in fact, caked on by a professional artist) my transformation to pitbull in pink lipstick was almost complete.

Then came the final touch - the fine-rimmed spectacles, almost the same as Palin's custom-made ones. She once told Vogue she was trying to be 'frumpy as I could by wearing my hair on top of my head and these schoolmarm glasses'.

Sorry, but that's a load of old moose. Sarah Palin's style strategy couldn't be cleverer. It projects authority while making her seem approachable.

She is not overtly sexy - which means she's appealing to women - but what red-blooded man on either side of the Atlantic isn't secretly imagining her throwing those glasses to one side and unclipping that glossy mane so it tumbles over her shoulders?

You've got to hand it to her. And whatever her politics, after this painful transformation, Sarah Palin certainly gets my vote.

Obama teases about putting lipstick on a pig.

Let's say, just for kicks, that he really didn't mean it the way everyone's taking it. Let's say he just meant it metaphorically, with no intention of insulting Sarah Palin. For someone who's so supposedly brilliant, who has such a way with words, and who can think so quickly on his feet, that's a pretty terrible thing to "let slip." So we're down to two choices: He's really is the brilliant man the Dems say he is, and he knew exactly what he was saying and meant every word, OR he didn't mean it, and he has a terrible way with words and isn't all that bright.

Hmm.

I looked through some of the posts and didn't see this linked yet. If I missed it I apologize. But Obama is scary stuff.

My apologies if this is out of line, but I'd love to read some McCain/Palin RPF and haven't been able to find any.  If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks!

Michelle Malkin has been updating quite a bit on the Lipstick idiom hoopla. First, there's Team McCain's response. Hopefully, it will sell lipstick, soon, for it would sell like hotcakes.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are scrambling, via cyberspace.

Honestly, I'm going with the Fox News mantra: I report, you decide.

A few days ago, I reported that the Obama campaign asked Hillary to assist against Palin. A few of you were skeptical about this turn of events (as one should be). For that, you get a cookie, if I had them on me. Anyway, special thanks to Tammybruce.com for posting this.

Incidentally, there's an interesting line of thought that Bill O'Reilly made about Hillary and Obama yesterday. I'll post on that separately, as it deserves such contemplation.

Edit: I forgot to add this, but beware of profanity within.

Here's something lighthearted, as "Lipstick Bungle" is making everyone insane. Plus, I know the comm did elaborate on some fake images before I signed up, so consider this a follow-up. Credit goes to Newsbusters.org. Oh, CNN, why do you bother? Haha.

I'll admit, fake or not, it's a sexy image.

On August 29, 2008, John McCain celebrated his birthday by announcing that Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, would be his running mate.

Did anyone else notice that the Alaska state quarter's release was also announced on that day by the US Mint?

QUARTER HONORING “THE GREAT LAND,” A SHINING STAR FOR THE NATION

"PALMER, Alaska - The spotlight was on the Colony Stage at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer today as a crowd celebrated the ceremonial launch of the Alaska commemorative quarter-dollar coin. United States Mint Deputy Director Andrew Brunhart joined Alaska Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell for the event." Click on the link for more.

Link to huge proof image of quarter.

I suppose we can actually thank President Clinton for the timing on this one.
Shining Star indeed.;-D
