I've recently gotten into "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and am deep in the thralls of fandom. We're only on season 6, so don't spoil me on anything, but feel free to view this bit o' picspam of the males from the show, or to squee with me here about any Buffyverseness. :)

I'm in a conundrum.

Long (well, maybe two years) have I loved the band Rasputina, which is a cello rock band. Their songs are almost always about historical events or figures, and being a history nut this appeals to me. Despite their playing at various liberal events they have mostly kept their politics out of their music (one of their songs is considered by some fans to be about President Bush, but the band denies it, though the idea amuses them). Then today I get an email about their upcoming album:

"Oh Perilous World is the long awaited new studio album from chamber-rock trio Rasputina. Deciding that current world events were more bizarre than anything from the distant past, Rasputina foundress Melora Creager culled words, phrases and whole stories from the Internet that especially intrigued her to create the lyrical inspiration for this album."

Alarms are kind of going off in my head. Some of the songs on the tracklist have been played live, and though I haven't seen the band live myself and have only heard live bootlegs of the songs, liberal Raspy fans like discussing how anti-war and anti-Bush they are. If they are that way and the whole album is made up of songs like that, I don't want to give the band a red cent. But I have no way of knowing what the content actually is! Ai! But if you pre-order now you get special things! Ai!
