DID YOU KNOW?

  • There are an estimated 5,000 Internet sites devoted to the spread of Islamic extremism.
  • Abu Musab al-Suri, a Syrian, wrote a 1,600-page encyclopedia entitled "The Call for Global Islamic Resistance" and videotaped 15 hours of lectures. He remains a powerful influence on the web, even though he has been in U.S. custody since 2005.
  • At the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, cadets are being taught to recognize the Internet's power as a new weapon.

Mars Melt Hints at Solar, Not Human, Cause for Warming, Scientist Says

According to the National Geographic, Earth is not the only planet experiencing global warming - so does Mars, where the SUV craze has so far been noticeably underreported. One Russian scientist, Dr. Habibullo Abdussamatov at Saint Petersburg's Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory, even claims - gasp - that Martians do not, in fact, drive Hummers and light their department store windows with halogen lamps, deducing from this that Earth global warming may not be due to man-made carbon dioxide emissions after all. Abdussamatov has of course drawn fire from other scientists. It's worth noticing he is no quack: Pulkovo is one of the world's best equipped observatories (and apparently has been since its founding in 1839.) More on this here.
