And RightFanBoys, of course.

I've decided, in the interests of succoring my fellow conservatives/libertarians in fandom, to create a page on my website for rightfangirls. It'll probably be basically a collection of links, including of course one to the sanity-saving [livejournal.com profile] therightfangirl, to stuff of interest to our sort. For instance, the various articles I've seen debating whether or not Darth Vader was a Republican.

[livejournal.com profile] carbonelle just posted a link that's going on the page: ELECTION DAY 2006 - WHOSE SIDE IS YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO ON?.

Anyone know of any similarly cool links? Links to good Ainsley Hayes fics count. (No, I don't know of any. But some must be out there. Right?)

I read Gut check by Amanda Witt on her blog "Wittingshire" and after pausing to reflect I realised something strange. It would be easier to explain the torture of captured "insurgents" or the death penalty than it would be to describe abortion, to a child.

There's no way to soften this blow; children are fascinated by pregnant women, love to point out that not so long ago they were inside their own Mommy's tummy. They may not know the biological details, but they know where babies come from; they know how their own lives began.

Each time circumstances demanded that I explain abortion to a child, I watched that child's eyes grow big with disbelief, then sick with horror. And each time I knew that some fundamental trust of adults, some basic belief that grown-ups were merciful and just, had gone.

The older I get, the harder I find the determined fight to maintain the "right" to late (2nd and 3rd trimester) abortions. Killing one's offspring in blastula or gastrula form is ethically questionable right from the get-go. Any later, when neural tissue forms, belly swells and tiny fingers and toes wiggle for the sonogram--?

Monstrous.

I just posted this in my journal and thought I'd post it here too.

It's crap like this that makes me seriously question the sanity of the far left.

This is sheer paranoia plain and simple. They've been squawking for 6 years about how Bush was going to declare himself "president for life" and throw homosexuals in concentration camps and have them executed, etc. etc. etc. and nothing to that effect has happened (nor would I even expect it to). They're little psychotic fantasies are fading right before their eyes and they're grasping at every straw possible to try and convince themselves that there's still something to them.

Fox Mulder isn't even that paranoid for crimeny sake!
