From an Italian conservative who blogs in English:

http://thejoyofknitting.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_thejoyofknitting_archive.html#112619869589897387

Some PG/PG-13 rated humor (eg: "[Someone] humorously suggested instead [the Red Cross] adopt as logo a nice pink behind..."), but very funny. This is one of my favorite "bloggers-seemingly-nobody-reads-but-me", so check out what else s/he has to say.

Go here for the actual facts about the reportedly widespread raping and killing in New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina:

Whenever I'm on fannish message boards, lists, or groups, I don't beat anyone over the head with right wing stuff. Most people would never know I'm a conservative.

But it's always the liberals who have a burning itching need to throw in politcs all of the dang time, even when it's off-topic and irrelevant. (This is not counting the free-love social libertines who always seem to be around whenever somebody posts some personal issue on a list...which I wish people wouldn't do. Save it for your damn therapist, not a bunch of strangers on the internet. Sheesh.) It's worse when you've got old hippies around. There's a list that I'm on devoted to a particular actor and a couple of the ladies on it are straight outta the 60s. They're nice people (I met one of them at Comic Con actually) and on fannish stuff we agree more often than not but they always have to throw in digs at Wal Mart, bring up global warming (especially recently), and what have you. The other day they compared the criticism of dopey celebrities like the Dixie Chicks to the blacklist of the 1950s and 1960s. Usually I let this sort of thing slide but occasionally, I end up arguing back and that prompts the mod to put the kibosh on things. Which she should have done the first time things start getting political. ::Shakes head.::

Thanks for listening ;).

As a fan of both moors (preferably Northern ones) and snogs, far be it from me to ban moorland snogging, and yet:

Darcy and Elizabeth do not SNOG ON THE MOORS! They spar, they dance, they seethe, they tease, they misunderstand and misjudge, they eventually fall in love but they NEVER SNOG ON THE MOORS!

Check out The Anchoress' rant on Pride & Prejudice as feminist bombast".

It seems someone in Hollywood felt that we needed a new version: Who knew?

"TIME: Emma Frost is in the X-men now?

JW: She's been an X-man for some time.

TIME: They do know she used to be a villain, right?
"

and

NG: ... I look up and they have a bodyguard line of 30 Klingons. They're six-foot six and four-feet wide and they have the foreheads and they had linked arms. We were being lead off behind a human wall —a Klingon wall—of Klingon warriors. And I thought, how good does it get?

Hat tip to [livejournal.com profile] fairestcat who linked to a An interview with Joss Whedon (Buffy, Firefly, Murder She Wrote [weg], etc.) and Neil Gaiman (Sandman, Books of Magic, etc.)

Great stuff, and as the cat said, no spoilers.
